DIY Toyota Key(1/4)-How to get Toyota Key code

In this series, I will show you how I cut a key for my Toyota Solara. Currently, I only I have one valet key for my car.
I separate this topic into 4 videos:
1. How to get Toyota Key code
2. How to convert Key code
3. How to read key code from key
4. How to hand cut key
If you lost all the car key you can go to the first and second video, and then go to the last video
If you still have any key available, you can directly go to the third video and then go to the last video.
Hopefully this video could help with anyone who lost key or only have valet key.

Sometime (rarely) it's not there. I hate it when that happens.

How about how to find a key code for 2001 Lexus IS300?

Jorick Earl Bastian says:

is the key code also for the master key which can open the glove box lock?

Stephen LaRoche says:

Thank you. It is very rare for me to subscribe to anything but I feel the need to recognize this valuable guidance. When I lost my keys the dealership suggested I have my car towed there. The tow would cost about $100. For them to provide me with a key with the correct chip would be over $200. Programming the Key would cost $200. Cutting the key was priced at $75. Common sense told me this could not be the best option. I hope more people see this and avoid being taken advantage of simply because of what they don't know but can easily do on their own.

Are Keycodes always numbers? Cause I checked mine and the first digit is a letter, is that possible? thanks!

Rod S says:

Hello, thanks for the very helpful videos. For your information, when a Toyota car has a door lock on only the driver's side, then the key code should be located on the driver's side lock. However, when a Toyota car has a lock in the driver's side door and also has a lock in the passenger side door, then the key code might be on the passenger side door lock and might have some kind of different code on the driver's side door lock.

Simple Living says:

Easier than using Lishi tool.

El Solitario says:

Hi, European Toyotas have the key code in the door lock? or only USA toyotas?
