2010-2015 Toyota Prius 12V battery replacement

2010-2015 Toyota Prius 12V battery replacement

How to replace the 12V battery on your 3rd Gen. Prius. All you need are simple tools to do this yourself.

The only issues you need to set when reconnecting the battery is, setting the time, date, and navigation volume. I never had to re-learn the automatic power windows or had the radio station channels erased.

Important point. Do not close your trunk after removing the battery. Trunk will not re-open without the battery, so the new battery can't be installed. I had to attach a battery jumper to the connection points under the hood to get the trunk to re-open.

Great video!! Very professional, clear and make to see a easy job!
This video has helped to save a lot of money doing the job by ourselves.
In another hand, about the battery details, I guess this is the reference number "s46b24r" I just would like to be sure, and the price is between $170 to $270 depending of the brand.
My question is if this price is okey, or if I could use any type/regular battery?

Educational AND entertaining

Do you have a link or part number for the battery?

Job done! Thanks for the video.

YouTube at its best! Crystal-clear instructions supported by quality camera work and audio. As a noob I especially liked the "inside baseball" ("it's not a j-bolt so it won't get lost") and knowing what tools (in this case "tool") to gather to get the job done. Never did this task before, took my time, and was done in under 15 minutes. Success! Thank you!

Can you recommend a 12-volt battery for a Prius 2015?

Is it difficult to replace the battery terminals? I'm told mine are damaged but I don't know if it's something I could do myself

Thanks for this very good instructional video. All the videos you have done so far, have helped me tremendously. Please keep up the great work!!!!!! When you replace a 12V battery some makes/models require a reset on the computer so the car understands there is a new battery, not the old one putting out less volts. Does the 2012 – 2015 Prius require that and if so how do you perform that task? Possibly using the OBD II connection or other?
