This a walk through of the belt replacement. I couldn’t find a good DIY online so I decided to make one myself.

@mcluvin28x This was shot on a Gopro HD camera. I have other cameras that
would have taken better low light video and audio but I didn’t want to get
them dirty. My gopro can take a beating so I wasn’t concerned with possibly
breaking it during the video. If you’re interested, I have several other
examples of Gopro footage I’ve shot posted on youtube.
can you please send me a copy of your diagram
Ive got an 06 Avalon with the same 3.5 engine and a the factory belt has
235,000 on it and no cracks or chunks out….. amazed yours went out so
quick. I think mine is a Mitsuboshi (not Mitsubishi) brand belt that Toyota
used OEM.
This 3.5 liter V6 Camry does not have a timing belt. 100K miles is a good
time to replace the belt.
@thegentleman90 thanks glad I could help
hey bro how do you tight up the tensioner my is kinda loose.. and make a
Lil squeaking while the car in idle… is it counter clock wise? thank u..
Thanks mate! looks pretty difficult tho. Planning to get the Goodyear belt
for the 2GRFE. although I have supercharged version should be similar.
Thanks for posting. I’ll be replacing belt on my wife’s 2007 Lexus with
same engine. It has 117K miles and the original belt looks good but for
30-40 bucks, it’s good insurance to change it now.
Everything is correct. All the groves line up mad took it for a test drive.
Hmmm not sure why mine did what it did.
not sure. Mine didn’t do that. I’d make sure you’ve got the belt all the
way on the pulleys and that the belt is routed correctly.
@jblaze5779 yeah gopro’s are really sturdy bro, I’ll check out your other
vids !
Thanks for taking the trouble to do this. Wish you had a 96 rather than 97!
🙂
What kinda camera are you using? and lens info as well . . fisheye perhaps?
Great video!! Thanks for making it and sharing it on youtube!
thank you for your video. it helps me alot with my 03 camry.
Thanks for posting. Good advice on the tensioner.
My 2007 camry 3.5L has 80,000 miles on it and I think my water pump is
going bad so I plan on replacing it along with the serpentine belt,
thermostat, and upper and lower hoses. I’m not auto mechanically talented
but not hopeless in knowing how to wrench things. I’ll take a crack at it
before I pay someone several hundred dollars for a job I can possibly do
myself. My question to you is is it worth the time and patience, as well as
my ego, to tackle this job? Thanks for posting!
@LilMidSchied well this is for a 2007 so I think we’re way off. Thanks for
the comment though.
@guitarofvelocity It’s not hard you got this!
Thanks for the video. I just swapped out my belt this past weekend. Overall
it wasn’t a bad job, took me about an hour. I used a bolt to hold the
tensioner in place (you can use an allen key, bolt, or whatever will fit in
the hole). I was able to use a 14mm socket on the tensioner, just need one
that’s short. I have a manual that shows the belt routing, if you don’t
have one draw yourself a diagram, make notes, etc., you don’t want to get
that part wrong!
@neomits anytime
After I replace the serpentine belt my car started to act differently. The
car drives fine but when come up to a stop the car shake abnormally. I also
drained filled the transmission fluid. Is that normal?
@Ricky12121996 no problem glad I could help.
I have a question. I have the same car, and it has a little over 100,000
miles on it. The serpentine belt needs replacement, right? My older sister
had a 2002 toyota camry and she needed her timer belt replaced because it
left her stranded in the middle of the highway. My question is, is it the
serpentine belt or the timer belt that needs replacement?
I have a 2004 4 cyl Camry and will need to do this soon as well. Your video
has inspired me to do it myself. And the savings will be a bonus.
@TheH22swap Thanks glad I could help
Thanks for the video. Just got done looking for the tensioner under the
hood and then found your video. i’m sure it will save me some time.
thanks 4 da info very helpfull
Great video. Thanks for making it.
Thanks for this DIY video!!! You’re a life saver!!!
thankyou for this video very helpful; i have a concert is the same way for
the replacement serpentine belt on a toyota celica 2000 can someone help me
out thanyou
Thanks for the vid! Very helpful.
Thanks Justin! I just paid the dealer 380.51 to replace one on my 2007
Camry with 47,600 miles on it. After watching your video and seeing how
labor intensive this is I feel that I was charged fairly and also that it
isn’t unusual to have to replace the belt with the mileage I have. I feel
much better about it. I love my car!
