infrequent squeaking brakes is normal. sometimes its just brake dust thats trapped. sometimes it rust that develops overnight on every car.
the grinding will be your pads: either worn or “glazed” due to being old or over heated.
if your steering wheel shakes when you are braking, thats your sign for needing new rotors.

where are you at? I’d love to have you do my brakes! lol. I have an 04 Toyota Highlander. My brakes squeal once in a while but not all the time, same for grinding but doesn’t happen all the time. As of today when driving, not braking, I’m, hearing a tinny whirring sound on the right side (this is all front brakes). All the noises are from the brakes. I need new rotos as well. I’m scared of losing my brakes, no idea how much longer they can go like this but I don’t know how to do it myself

3 ton harbor freight floor jack. its great.

AFOLBrickMaster says:

Any chance you can let me know what type of floor jack you used for sister’s Toyota highlander brake pad replacement? Was it a 2 or 3 ton floor jack?

Thanks

by the way – what you say at 15:00 regarding how techs at the dealership love to tighten the hell out of lugnuts w/ their impact wrenches is SO TRUE. thank you for calling them out!

Excellent, excellent video – huge props to you for making this vid. This helped me w/ servicing my 07 Highlander. It’s always helpful to see how to do the job before you try to tackle it yourself. Thanks a bunch!!!

hasam05 says:

What is the electric Milwaukee impact wrench and socket did you use to remove the lugs?

imstricken06 . says:

thank you sir. glad i could help you out.

this video was great. He showed exactly how to remove and change the front pads on an ’05 Highlander. Every step was covered, and described in simple terms. The best how to video I ever watched. Everyone can learn from this guy how to do a simple, easy to understand video. I personally have to re-do my how to video on flushing an outboard motor. Thanks and keep up the GREAT work.
