Suzuki Jimny JB74 BONNET PROTECTOR Installation || How To Install a  Bonnet Protector || DIY Guide

G’day Guys and Gals!

In this video I show you all of the steps necessary to install a BONNET PROTECTOR to your vehicle. This video can be used as a guide when fitting a bonnet protector to any vehicle. If you have a Suzuki Jimny JB74 then this guide can be followed completely when installing your bonnet protector.

In this video I show you all of the parts included in the bonnet protector kit and also the tools necessary to carry out the install.

A bonnet protector or bug deflector can be fitted to most vehicles including the Suzuki Jimny JB74 and helps to deflect bugs, rocks and other road debris away from the bonnet and over the windscreen.

Without a bonnet protector fitted to your vehicle the front edge of the bonnet can be quite susceptible to damage from road debris. Passing traffic can flick up rocks, sticks and bugs can cause paint damage if left unattended too.

If you are thinking about fitting a bonnet protector or bug deflector to your Suzuki Jimny JB74 then the genuine bonnet protector is a great option. It is a dark tinted bonnet protector and comes will all of the parts necessary for a neat install. As well as looking great the bonnet protector definitely adds the extra protection to the bonnet lip that it needs.

A lot of different brands make the bonnet protectors like OCAM and Suzuki. You can choose an aftermarket option or a genuine option depending on your budget. The Genuine bonnet protector retails for around $110 AUD.

In this video I show you all of the steps necessary to install the bonnet protector to your Suzuki Jimny JB74 –
Step 1 – Open bonnet
Step 2 – Clean bonnet edge with damp microfibre cloth
Step 3 – Clean under bonnet lip where mounting hardware will go
Step 4 – Test fit the bonnet protector and align with mounting holes
Step 5 – Mark with pen on lip of bonnet where mounting holes are located
Step 6 – Clean top and underside of bonnet at marks with alcohol wipe
Step 7 – Apply Anti-abrasion clear tape to 4 locations marked on bonnet
Step 8 – Assemble mounting hardware with plastic screw clips
Step 9 – Fit mounting hardware to bonnet lip using screw inserts
Step 10 – Fit self tapping screws to central 2 mounts
Step 11 – Fit bonnet protector to mounts
Step 12 – Tighten down bonnet protector to mounts using screws/washers
Step 13 – Fit anti-abrasion clear tape under 4 bump on locations
Step 14 – Clean down with damp microfibre cloth
Step 15 – Close the bonnet! Nice work!

Fitting a bonnet protector to your vehicle can easily be carried out at home, yourself with some simple tools. You will require –

1. Philips head screw driver
2. Microfibre cloth
3. Ruler
4. Non permanent marker or pencil
5. Soapy Water

This install can be easily carried out as a DIY install with some simple tools that you have at home.

Fitting some protection to the Bonnet with help to prevent stone chips and damage from flying debris. Using the plastic bonnet protector to stop damage when off-roading or 4x4ing you can ensure the paint work is in top condition for years to come. Preventing the stone chips is a lot easier then having the bonnet damaged and then having to get it repaired. Made from heavy duty ABS injection moulded plastic the bonnet protector is extremely strong and sturdy.

The Suzuki Jimny JB74 is a great vehicle and now with the added protection to the front of the bonnet it is looking really good!
