You Sir are an absolute life saver. Please read private message as there is not enough room for the full explanation here.
Because the car battery indicator dummy light stayed on steady one morning while driving to work 40 miles. Then driving back, it began to lose power and died. Wouldnt start. Put brand new batt in and it started up and drove home. With engine running, pulled negative battery wire and engine died (i know your not supposed to do this). So I thought it was the alternator. Put alt back in. Did tests with voltmeter. Batt shows slow discharge while running, as if alt not charging it. Something wrong.
Nah, my battery checked out completely fine. Have you verified that your battery isn’t the problem? What symptoms led you to believe the alternator was failing?
Got it out alright. Then took alternator to O’Reillys and they tested it out and it was just fine. 3 tests proved it was not the alternator. Weird. The battery light still stays on solid. Did your Suzuki have any issues after you replaced the alternator?
Good luck
Sweet! Thanks for the vid. I woke up this morning NOT wanting to figure out how to get my bad alternator out, but you’ve already done the homework for me, so I am headed out to the driveway to pull the wheel off!
Probably on the loose side actually. If the belt is hot compared to the others, it’s usually from being too loose and probably needs tiightened a bit more, unless one of your pulleys is seized up…
My car squeaks super bad after getting a new belt on it. Could loosening it be a possible fix?
Glad to help :)
