How To Install A Winch On Your 4×4 (Suzuki Samurai, Jeep, Toyota)

In this video I show you how to install a winch on your 4×4. This can be applied to any 4×4/4wd like a Jeep Wrangler, Toyota, Chevy, Ford, or in this case a Suzuki Samurai (Also known as the Suzuki Jimny, Suzuki Sierra, Suzuki Santana, or Maruti Gypsy in other countries). Including how to mount the winch and wire it.

This is a great modification for any one going off road and it can get you out of a number of situations. Whether its a Warn, Smittybilt, Badland, or other brand of winch you will be glad to have it on the trail.

I just installed a harbor freight 12k winch in the DRZ stubby bumper on my '87 tin top. I remote mounted the relay control box up under the hood to keep it dryer/safer, check out the pictures on my insta @TheBeercan

I like that you spooled the cable out at the end then rewound it, I would have included dialogue on the importance of doing that the first time, then doing it again everytime you have to use the winch on a trail day. Other than that great video!

Good to see the tin top getting some love now that that other money pit you had is out of the way 😉

What winch mount is that?

Keith Lea says:

Your winch looks offset with the fairlead. Looks like it needs to go to the passenger side. Haven't seen that winch in a decade or two. Should pull that tin top up a tree no problem.
