Green Power Farm says:

I wish every car repair video was recorded this way…I can finally see
what’s going on…Make them all like this Eric!!

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

There are better cameras than the gopro setup for things like this. I’ve
been recording myself work for a year with great results… only drawback
is that the music in the shop gets recorded, which I then have to cover
with noise, so that YouTube doesn’t flag the audio.

John Thornton says:

Matco sells better ratcheting wrenches. When space permits, I use a fine
wire wheel on a drill to clean off gasket surfaces. This works wonderfully
in removing old rtv. Thank you for posting the video.

Bob herry says:

Bye BYe Subaru! :(

Guns & Gears says:

The best way to to get the crank bolt out and re-tightend is to get a
counter holder tool.

Drew99GT says:

I word of caution: do not watch this video if you’ve done any mushrooms.

Mrx2002 says:

@ 14:30 Disconnect the battery!!! This will ensure 1 the engine will not
start and 2 you cant short anything out with the battery connected..

Bayer-Z28 says:

Eric, you could do a video on how to replace the casters on your cart and
I’d still watch it..

Jim Briggs says:

I did a timing belt and water pump on a 98 Subaru Forester S 2.5L. What a
pain. I had a tool that scraps to the crank and then you can break the bolt
loose, but usually requires two people. The DOHC motor I had was horrible,
put about $1000 into repairs in it and finally scrapped it. Overheated so
many times that it finally warped the aluminum motor, come to find out, it
had a bad headgasket and the way these motors are designed, you don’t get
the weird compression problems or the steam coming out of the exhaust, when
I scrapped it, white steam came out of the radiator cap and I knew it was
done for. Motor only had 130k on it.

Spearfisher1970 says:

All I can say is that, beyond a great teaching video, you really made me
feel better about my most recent purchase being an old Jeep with a
so-much-very-simpler-engine to work on.

Now that I’ve seen this, I won’t ever buy a Subaru. Can’t imagine what
these repairs would cost at the dealership.

Shiny James Lamoureux says:

i can lodify the google glasses to use greater memory and upgrade the
video/camera lense and battery power etc. im great on modifying things my
special way. works slike 85% of the time

bhstone1 says:

Eric, please don’t use the head-mounted camera any longer. I seriously got
vertigo and motion sick. Thank you, Eric.

Randall Decker says:

When Google glass comes down in price I hope your able to get a set Eric.
Not to knock the gopro Im happy to watch any new videos you make with any
camera. I think the google glass would be purfect for your videos in my
opinion.

Ilya Kirkby says:

Eric, i love you man…but this….

William Todd says:

I need to replace the crank seal in my Bronco 2, and the radiator. So I
know the radiator has to come out to give room to access the crank bolt and
the seal anyhow, but would it work using an impact wrench to remove that
crank bolt? I tried just using a breaker bar and socket but of course it
just spins the whole engine LOL.

mi lu says:

what caused the timing belt to skip a key before?

HeadCamThis says:

You know there is a head belt for the gopro, right? :3

rick petch says:

No video showing for me, what’s wrong ????.

tapper88 says:

@weasel884 ratchets use a specific tool oil, wd40 is a penetrant and it
will dissolve any oil that is in there and wash it away, it will
temporarily lube the gears but the correct oil is much better, a few drops
every 6 months and decent ratchets will never give you a problem

Joseph Casperino says:

What kind of air compresser is that or tank is that?

sean simmons-hogan says:

I got some of those at harbor freight and they are cherry

Jobert Cadag says:

are radiator pet cock all the same for all cars?
like civic pet cock will fit on a corolla radiator?

wilber duran says:

I like…both first sefty your eyes Eric

Tanks for your videos

Diego Salvatierra says:

I was going to buy the gearwrench set tomorrow but was staying away because
I didnt likr their warranty and would rather have at least crafstman. Good
to know they are not that great. Saved me a few bucks. Thank you

Dickolas Wage says:

Haha this is also almost like watching an instant replay breakdown of what
you just did.

produKtNZ says:

Isn’t that actually not the timing belt?

netchecker3 says:

Is the camera you are using supposed to be a dashcam? Has it an emergency
function in case of collision? if so the missing parts can be in the
“emergency” folder on the card inserted.

Rebecca Williams says:

You didn’t find a hash mark on the crank pulley because there isn’t one on
there. The hash mark is on the crankshaft sprocket only. this is important
information missing from the video. also, ALL the timing belt idlers and
the tensioner pulley should be replaced whenever doing this job. They can
and do seize, as I recently saw this happen to an impreza with 127k,
causing the belt the skip and it ruined the valves

Eddie1962150 says:

@jonathan doyle

I would much rather someone speak whether it be voice over or while they
are doing what ever they are doing. Eric explains what he’s doing rather
than what most of these do,blast some obnoxious music that the person
watching has to either hit the mute button or move on to another video.
Which is what I do.

I would much rather be able to see what the person is doing, while
explaining what he’s doing. Which is what Eric does most of the time. He
just happened to miss the mark with this one. Eric is tall. You put a
camera on top of a hat on a 6ft frame, well, you get what you got here. I’m
sure Eric will fix it one way or the other. At least I hope so. I can’t
take much of that spinning around myself to be honest.
