I remember taking my '04 WRX in for A/C service (leaky shrader) and got a new P/S Oring even though no P/S leaks or other problem. At the time it was just a universal Subaru problem. This is how you tell a good shop.
With rack & pinion, I jack up the front & operate steering without engine until fluid stops dropping. This stops air bubbles as the rack is a piston pump without the engine.
Thanks for the video Ivan.
Do you measure voltage drop with setting the meter to ohms?
Dr Ivan needs one of those big circle reflectors around his head lamp lik
Nice masterclass on the scope this one! Excellent diagnostics. Love this channel!
Thanks for the upload, Ivan. As with all your videos, I found it genuinely interesting to watch and educational, thankls.
Great video
Outstanding!
Your customer made a good choice towing the car to you, not many shops would have found this, and the power steering fix as a bonus, well done.
Hope you charge appropriately, your expertise is too good to give away cheaply.
Glad you made it back after the test drive. With all that has gone wrong with that car, you never know if maybe one of the wheels was going to fly off.
you must take of your tools the oms meter look new for 1992 thats 32 years old that for your time
As soon as you started your diag. I’m saying the audio unit. Have done a couple of those. O e customer bought a used one and the other just pulled the fuse every night.
Lesson learned, never buy a used Legacy, unless you want to visit PHAD.
Funny, while watching all three episodes of this Subaru with “EBay or Amazon” parts, one of your sponsors was EBAY Motors. I watched 6 14-second commercials. Ironic.
I have seen a parasitic draw on Subaru stereo head unit from kids plugging coins in the cd player
Could you put an on off toggle switch on that HAVAC /RADIO stack if you can't find a replacement?
The o ring sounded like a hard piece of plastic when it hit the tray. LOL
THIS! Im gonna show this video to my wife when she says "Do you really need to keep that?" 🙂 Awesome job Ivan!
I had an infinity that had a bad radio that had a draw but it surprised me to see you had to move the engine for coils .
So often on these parasitic draws, including many I've found myself, it's quite often the factory radio unit causing the draw. I wonder why it is that these things always have issues with parasitic draw. It is one device that has a constant memory feed wire, but you'd think these manufacturers could make a better factory head unit.
