I noticed the first plug you pulled you had to use a t70 torx. Isnt that
for the front differential? the the second one you showed was the trans.
pan. I could be wrong but i was a little confused by this.
Only STi’s have the second bolt

“tale out this other bolt” is not very descriptive…I’m looking through
the service manual for a 2007 WRX and I see nothing about a second bolt to
remove in order to change the fluid. What bolt is that?

@ThePrudence23 yeah there is. its on top of the tranny, passenger side. its
hidden by the IC if you have a turboed subie
The second bolt you drained is only for the STI’s correct? WRX only has the
t70?
These are for the 2006 wrx sti, not sure about other years. Oil Pan Side
Bolt (A) – 32.5 ft/lb Clutch Hosing Side Bolt (B) – 51.6 ft/lb
Is this the same procedure for 07 Legacy GT STi 6MT?

Been watching your How To video’s w/ the STI, I have an 07. Just wondering
why you have to tae the intercooler off to change the tranny fluid? Is that
just b/c it gets in the way of the fill hole and if so cant you just get a
flexible funnel and not take the IC off?
02 manual dont give a specific oil to use, just wieghts. would a 75w80 gl5
senthetic work
Woah, Why are you using 10W-40 motor oil? Shouldnt you be using GL-5 rated
Gear oil either 80W, 85W, or 75W-90?
Where was teh second bolt that you did? Also what is the recommend time

@tma450 dude just use 75w90 gl5 subaru extra s trans fluid. im going to be
using it in my 03 wrx. i heard the gears shift better and smoother with
that stuff. youll need five quarts. four for the trans and one for your
diff.
Tried to change transmission fluid at the weekend – had car on ramp and
intercooler removed (04 STI) but then when I tried to remove the large 21mm
drain plug on transmission with large torque wrench it was impossible – the
thing was welded solid. Please people take note – you NEED one of those air
impact wrenches only garages have if your car is a few years old – the wet
and weather will completely seize this large bolt shut!

hey is tranny fluid the same as differential fluid?
@junjin18182028 it makes it a lot easier to get to the tranny dip stock to
refill the tranny. its possible to be done without tho

Thanks for this, quick and to the point. Just did the trans fluid on my 05
STI and had a couple comments: 1. Mine had 21mm and 14mm hex bolts, did not
have the T70 2. A lot more fluid comes out if you jack the rear of the car
higher than the front

Do we lose the small bolt for the vent n then unbolt the t70 bolt for the
oil to drawn
yeah just makes it easier. its not absolutely necessary to take the TMIC
off, but i didnt exactly have a flexible funnel around to try and wiggle in
there
I dont take off my intercooler. Thats just extra work lol, call me lazy
