Today we have a fan/viewer supplied engine! This 80k mile 2.0L FA20DIT is from a 2016 WRX. I don’t believe the fan/viewer did this damage, I think it was purchased with this damage and subsequently repaired. This engine has been through hell and every part of it paints a picture of a corner cutting, penny pinching repair that clearly did NOT last.
Why am I doing this? My name is Eric and I own and run a full service auto salvage business called Importapart. Part of our model includes dismantling blown up and bad engines to salvage the good parts. We do NOT rebuild engines, we merely sell parts to those who do.

Scary for me to see how close all that Turbo and exhaust heat is to the oil pan. Hope they installed a factory engine oil cooler on those. Heck would not hurt to have a separate oil system for the turbo. Ah but that just the aviation mechanic in me : )
I have a fumoto valve on my van. its super nice to have for quicker oil changes.

I've noticed a common theme with a lot of engine builders/re-builders these days, and it all involves, rushed, shoddy work. I'm guessing this one had an oiling issue and had some metal still in it from before it was rebuilt.
Looks like someone rebuilt the engine in their garage with a buddy.
So not the proper engine maintenance….

Maybe someone told them it needed new rings and they just added it to the oil fill tube. Rebuild in a can.
DAMN! When you had the oil pan off and were trying to turn the crank over, your engine was growling back at you! LOL! I think this boxer lost on a TKO!
