The Japanese Oil Change Secret That Makes Subaru Engines Last 500k Miles

There is a Japanese oil change secret that makes Subaru engines last 500,000 miles. Not 200,000 miles, not 300,000 miles. Half a million miles on the original engine with original bearings, original rings, and compression numbers that look like a brand new car. This secret has nothing to do with expensive oil additives. Nothing to do with fancy equipment. Nothing to do with anything you’d find at your dealership or read in your owner’s manual. It’s a practice so simple that most American Subaru owners dismiss it immediately. They think it can’t possibly make that much difference. It makes all the difference. In Japan, there are Subaru mechanics who’ve never seen an internal engine failure on a properly maintained vehicle. Not one spun bearing, not one scored cylinder wall, not one premature ring failure because every customer who follows this secret arrives at 300,000 miles with an engine that tests like it has 30,000 miles on it. Meanwhile in America, Subaru owners are dealing with oil consumption at 80,000 miles, bearing failures at 120,000 miles, and complete engine rebuilds at 150,000 miles. Same engine, same basic design, completely different outcomes. The variable is the oil change secret.

1:32 into the video and we're still not to the point… this "not this, not that, not the other, not.. on and on" bullshit is getting ridiculous. You guys need to get new writers.

I set my reminder to 4000km. It gives me a bit of leeway and not have to panic about putting it off for a week.

use subaru idemitsu only or idemitsu igf 7, change at 3000 , as per subaru service manual , also the oil will not be carbon saturation and the intake valves will not get caked with carbon though the pcv system .

My 2016 Outback today when I started it and went 200 feet I noticed the fuel gage showed as empty when I only went 123 miles on a full tank. It stopped at a stop sign, It did restart and I put it back in the garage, after an hour or so I went to start it and it started fine and the gauge read the fuel level correctly, any ideas anyone?

This video is correct when they advise to change your oil at 3,000-3,500 miles as even synthetic oils lose lubricity properties with time. Wear is the killer for engine internals and fresh oil prevents this wear. A you tuber " The Motor Oil Geek " recommends the same thing. AND Don't forget to drain and refill your CVT every 30,000 along with front and rear differentials at 30 – 35,000. DON'T cheap out and your Subaru will go for 300K +
