How to change your engine oil and install a Fumoto quick drain valve. I show you how I change the oil on my 2020 Subaru STI and since I will be doing my own oil changes for the life of the car I install a quick drain valve to make future oil changes much easier and cleaner.

Fumoto valves are nice. I had one on my Subaru until about a year and a half ago. I changed to the Valvomaxx valve instead. 2 big reasons. 1. The valve stays clean because it has a cover that comes with the valve. This is very important for people who go off-road or live in an area that has a lot of under carriage contaminants. 2. The Fumoto valve got stiff to open over time and because it uses a thin metal leaver it started to hurt to do the oil change. The Valvomaxx does use a separate tool but so far hasn’t gotten stiff nor should it because the valve is protected. Just my two cents.

How's the Fumoto valve holding up?
I put a fumoto in 14 my forester xt at my first oil change. I change my oil once a month cause I have a long commute. I’ve got it down to about ten minutes start to finish. Don’t even need a jack. That filter being on top is a godsend.
Is it true those valves tend to leak? Have you had any leakage using this valve?
Your engine oil should be warm at least, to thin the oil and ensure that as much drains as is possible. It should not be cooled down

Did you ever replace with aftermarket skid for easier access to filter and drain plug ? My STI will be here around August 9 now
