Stephan Ovchinnikov says:

I have a 2001 hyndai accent and it makes a loud shriking noise do i do the same thing you did?

solocraftvs says:

You’re the best! I thought I was going to need to replace my power steering pump… I replaced my alternator and then this noise popped up out of nowhere. You saved me all kinds of grief. Thank you!

k2geo says:

Wow, easiest car fix ever. Thank you!

Justin Stobb says:

This fix is for air entering the system only, but a Power steering system can have other issues. If the pump is coming to a stop? is the belt loose?

MLWLUV says:

Justin, I don’t have a fan shroud on my 2005 Legacy. It sounds like I need one. Wheres a good place to buy one?

Justin Stobb says:

Thats only helpful if thee is no longer an air leak causing the fluid to become aerated, other wise you can attempt in vain to bleed the air out of the fluid until the “Cows come home” but you wont get anywhere

Justin Stobb says:

Either one will work, Dextron is whats there form the Factory

Justin Stobb says:

the bracket may still be allowing some air in, might try loosening it and re tightening it to re set it

kalargyi says:

Raise yr car, fill in PS w/ATF to safe level, turn the wheel L to R, do the same with running engine, repeat til all the bubbles are gone, noise should be gone too
U r welcome

kalargyi says:

ATF DexIII or regular PS fluid

TAGsten says:

What type of power steering fluid should i use?

Carlos Baldeon says:

I changed both accesory belts and never put the shroud back, and now I have the winding noise, do I have to put the shroud back or is there a way I can get away without installing it

j jenkins says:

Just had timing belt changed and had this problem. Did what you said and worked great thanks

Justin Stobb says:

You probably still have aerated fluid, you may need to adjust the bracket and then replace the fluid as well

FulgenceR says:

Hi, Justin. I’ve tried to adjust the shroud but still there’s is noise mostly when the steering wheels is turned to the max in either of directions. (First I noticed the noise was when I was leaving parking spot moving backward.) Must I change the fluid? I understand that nothing else is required, isn’t it?

SubaruXT6 says:

i keep the shroud off all my subie’s.
