Did you ever confirm if the 2010 actually has a closed deck block?

Flaheat says:

This is really great information, thanks for posting this. This is a
remarkable improvement for engines that are notorious for sending
headgaskets out the tailpipe! I’ll be doing new HGs and a reseal kit on my
’96 Legacy with the EJ25D next weekend.

Holly Moser says:

I have an 04 Outback with 60k miles (!!!!!) and have just found my head
gasket is blown. In 2004 I read reviews stating this issue had been fixed.
Ugh. Not sure whether to fix to let it go, I love this car…but this, at
60k miles is disheartening.

BlackWidowDesigns says:

I had the same problem on my ’99 Forester and the Subaru dealership
estimated me $2,800 for both head gaskets so I did them both myself. I used
Evergreen gaskets that I got on eBay but you can use pretty much any brand
as long as you do it correctly. Make sure you do the torque correctly and
in abc sequence. When you do it you can either take out the engine or leave
it in. I left mine in, it took me an extra day but was easier for me. I
spent about $450 total for everything. Send me a message.

I have a Head Gasket leak on my 2005 Legacy GT. Tool it to Subaru and was
told 2300 to fix, I don’t want to pay that amount if it will just break
again. Is it possible for me to do the work? If so what HG Kit should I
use? Thanks

Thanks for your informative post . I am considering a subaru engine in a
kit car .

Justin Stobb says:

We use a MLS Gasket at the shop, They Are the 6 Star brand, and not
available retail we do sell a Head Gasket kit on our Website though. If you
use the Head Gaskets From Subaru you will probably get to do them again,
they are basically the same thing thats already installed in your engine
now

Jason Jorgensen says:

Really great video, I need to do a head gasket on my 06 Forester XT myself
what gasket should I use and do I absolutely need to remove the motor!

Justin Stobb says:

Sorry Pavel, but that is not factual the SOHC 2.5l covered under the WWP 99
Campaign are all Single layer composite not MLS The Factory Part number for
production was 11044AA632 from 1999 to 2002, than replaced in production
and replacement at the Dealer level to 11044AA633 I am speaking about the
US, as thats where I live and have serviced Subaru vehicles both at the
Dealer and independent since 1993 Head over to our Website and have a look
at the Pictures under the HG articles

Ron Gorrill says:

good information that I haven’t heard until now. are you on any subaru
owners forums?

Pavel Osovets says:

I am yet to see a post 98 Subaru engine use anything but a MLS gasket.
Stock Forester EJ25D head gaskets blow out and cause overheating of the
engine. Those are MLS gaskets. Subaru went to SOHC EJ25 in all of their non
turbo cars in 1999 in US market. All those cars still had MLS head gaskets.
The only difference is those head gaskets always suffer an external leak
evident by wetness between the cylinder block and head interface. Best
solution: Any turbo EJ25 MLS headgasket. EJ257 or EJ255

Have you been able to confirm that the head itself has been changed yet by
taking one apart?

I’m looking to buy my first Subaru, and I was wondering if there is
anything in perticular I should look for. I’ve always worked on my own
cars, but I’m a Toyota guy. Just looking for the inside scoop on how to buy
a used Subaru. Maybe you can do a video ? By the way, I’m looking for a
2000-2004 Outback wagon with the 2.5 Thanks, Justin in NH

Phil Anderson says:

Super informative video. When the HG finally goes on my Forester, I’m going
to drive it up to you guys and have you do it.
