Subaru Legacy Vent Mode Actuator DIY Replacement

Subaru Legacy Vent Mode Actuator DIY Replacement

In this video I’m working on the vent mode actuator for my 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Limited. It has an automatic climate control and the push button selector activates a servo the controls which vents through which the air cabin air flows. This video starts by removing part of the console, then the right underside of the dash giving access to the necessary actuator. This video also gives access to other passenger side items such as the other actuators and the blower motor.

Indicators of this problem include air not blowing from the correct vent (obvious) or a noise come from the dash

Ted, first thank you so much for creating such a detailed tutorial! You are just great! It helped me a lot when doing the same in my 2007 Outback. I was facing the similar issue which showed as constant flow of air through central vents, no matter what position I chose.
Second – I was able to quickly repair my old actuator. I noticed those three contacts which left wears on a plastic gear have their endings splitted. I took a thin blade and made those endings a little wider. Just a tiny bit which allowed them not to fall into the worn tracks again, but move on the pieces of conductive material which is still left there. Now it moves like a brand new!

MitMaks try looking for a Denso part number 063700-8860, this is what mine was. It was used on many Toyota models.
