Where exactly in the engine are you? I need to replace the sensor but the subaru have about 1000 sensor plugs and I’m not sure which one it is. And also underneath the car, where exactly am I going for? Thank you for putting up the video.
Ok, I’ll try that now and see how it goes after driving a few days. Thanks for a quick response
Yes, you’ll need to reset the code. Disconnecting the battery for a few minutes or more might clear it. If not you can probably use the code reader at an auto parts store.
Same thing as Andrew said. I have an 03 subaru outback LLbean like in your video. I ordered a bosch and put it in and still get the same code, P0031. Should I clear the code? with a scanner or disconnecting the battery? Some online forum spoke about a brown wire the runs down the passenger footwell/glove box behind the carpet.
Your thoughts?
Appreciate your time!
Diana
Did you clear the code with a scanner?
I have just replaced O2 sensor code 0031 but still the check engine light has not gone away and still brings same error code please help as I’m now confused.
how come they take two minutes on you tube and I take a half an hour!?
Yeah, front sensor. I’ve replaced O2 sensors a few times and it’s always fixed the code. For Mazda and Subaru I’ve always used Bosch. I no longer use the universal ones that need to be re-spliced into the adapter. I just pay a little more and get the prewired ones. You’ll still save money by doing this DIY.
2003 Subaru Legacy w/ 169,xxx
That should be the O2 sensor in front of cat. What kind of car?
I’m getting a p0032 code (Heater control circuit high (bank 1)). How would this be fixed?
Glad the video helped.
Thanks! Used your instructions to replace the upstream sensor on a 2001 Legacy. Very helpful.
i’ve been meaning to do an oil change one. and later this summer i have to do the dreaded spark plugs…
do you have anymore h6 motor oil change or fuel filter stuff like that thank 4 the help
if you are getting the p0031 code then replacing the sensor will fix it almost all the times. occasionally i’ve read some cases where there is a different issue with wiring and the sensor doesn’t turn off the CEL. just buy the cheaper bosch universal kit where you splice into the existing wiring harness.
yea man the manual is so hard to get nowhere to find, i know which and where sensor 1 is,but i dont want to replace it and thats not the problem lo.
yeah, that was the year van i worked on. problem with MPV is it is hard to get service manuals for it. i think i found some service sheets that showed exactly which sensor is bank 1 sensor 1 …. check online at mpvclub dot com
bank 1 sensor 1, 2000 mpv
p0031 is a universal code for pre-cat 02 sensor. i changed a front o2 sensor on our old MPV van. can’t recall which bank, but the access to get underneath was pretty good.
i have a code p0031 on my mazda mpv
