Search my videos for #head #Subaru

Patrick Ryan says:

i have a 2005 subaru wrx sti and it keeps over heating but theres no
leaking in the rad so im thinking its the same problem as in this video….
how much will this cost to fix for shop rate? would i be better off selling
it ?

briansmobile1 says:

@trunitemare NGK V-Power

trunitemare says:

@briansmobile1 Thank you for the rapid response. I was also wondering what
kind of spark plugs do you recommend for the Legacy… NGK V-Power or the
Iridium type plugs or something completely different?

briansmobile1 says:

WHAAAAA???? Sign me up for one! Where do I buy this unicorn motor?

briansmobile1 says:

@Niteguy705 Check out this vid. “Did your Subaru Forester Head Gasket fail?
How to know. ” It could be a water pump, heater hose, or water pump elbow
hose.

lbori1 says:

Hey Brian do you a video on how to replace an oil pump on a Subaru..?

briansmobile1 says:

most likely. Go to car-part d#0t C#0m and look up if they are
interchangeable.

David Simpson says:

it and its not leaking from the exhaust. i’m thinking it has to do
something with the head but i’m not 100% sure. i did a compression test one
time and it had 90 psi in it. and there are bubbles in my radiator and
overflow tank. overall i don’t see it leaking from anywhere. what do think
it might be?

briansmobile1 says:

@Flaheat It DOES. Aren’t they pretty?

briansmobile1 says:

Nope. It’s on the front around the crankshaft. It’s external.

Gary Brand says:

Hi Brian, Will a 2.5 motor from a 98 forester fit into a 99 Outback Ltd?

Flaheat says:

SOHC EJ series engines are easy to rebuild compared to the DOHC engines.
Does this car have aftermarket headers on it?

trunitemare says:

Hey Brian, I got an 2006 Subaru Legacy and it runs fine, but I’ve noticed
the antifreeze in the overflow container or reservoir (next to the
radiator) keeps lowering just a little bit over a period of months. For
example when I fill it to the FULL mark, it drops down about 2cm above the
LOW mark. Is this due to a leak (I checked everywhere and nothing) or is
this normal? Oh yeah, the car has about 66,000 miles.

briansmobile1 says:

@Chris07860 Not yet. I’m just too twitchy on the cut button. My bad. I’m
still learning this new camera.

Chris07860 says:

I understand I have to get a better camera soon since mine took a dive on
me and I will eventually do some more vids

briansmobile1 says:

@spelunkerd It’s leaking out the plastic collector on the left side of the
motor where all to hoses come together. They’re like $8-20 from the
dealership.

joshuabathgate18 says:

I have a farri

frankie2234 says:

You seem to be always working on suburus. my sister wants to buy one, and
it just looks like they’re always in need of repair. your opinion please.

briansmobile1 says:

about the same time. Some H6’s I’m seeing fail around 90K

killerguitars52 says:

Brian, I know most older N/A Subarus are prone to premature head gasket
failure however what about the newer turbo motors? More specifily 2.5 turbo
wrx, sti and lgt motors? When do they usually fail?

briansmobile1 says:

Drivers side head gasket combustion gas leak into the coolant. 99% sure.

briansmobile1 says:

$1800 is the going rate for head gaskets on that.

Chris07860 says:

Brian is there a part 2? because you were still talking as the video ended.

briansmobile1 says:

@trunitemare This is pretty normal. My guess is that it’s evaporation and
condensation down the overflow tube. If it drops like that in a week or two
that’s another problem/leak.

Jayeeyee says:

Haha.. $1800 (and some change) is what a brand spanking new EJ257 STI block
cost at the time of this comment. And it’s the 2010+ one too with the heat
treated crank.

spelunkerd says:

@briansmobile1 Thanks, I’ll have a look when we are out there next month.

Niteguy705 says:

Hello Brian I have a 99 Impreza 2.5RS with the SOHC EJ25… i can see
coolant dripping from the bottom of the engine after being driven… but
the engine does not overheat.. atleast not yet… suggestions? Do you think
its the head gasket or just some hose… I cant see any mayo effect on the
dipstick either… atleast not yet…

spelunkerd says:

My son keeps having to put more antifreeze into his Jetta, with no evident
leak that he can see. He’s a thousand miles away so I can’t look at it, but
he says no problem with the exhaust, the oil is fine and it’s not
overheating, engine runs great. I wonder if it may have a slow leak that is
hard to find, perhaps only when hot. Other ideas?
