jamesm51 says:

Did you try cleaning it before replacing it?

Vulgora says:

do you know why my subaru legacy gets crap for gas mileage were talking 15
mpg if lucky

Shinan Zhang says:

Hi,I have a question about the iacv,I have a jdm V8 sti,its 2L engine,and
the iacv is broken few days ago,its screwed inside though have been
cleaned,so I got another good brand iacv and just get changed few hrs ago
but works even worse, the idle is around 2000rpm now, before it was 1300
with the broken iacv,so I duno why .and I also repalced a new gasket, and I
tried to drive on high way for 20mins under boost, but doesnt make the rpm
down, just let me know if u know what happend on my car,thx

jesse Karas says:

@kleun28 No sir. Once the engine is ran and warmed up, the gasket will
thermally expand and adhere itself adequately enough. Definitely clean off
the are where the IACV bolts too from any previous gasket residue.

kleun28 says:

do you need to put an “solvent/silicone ..etc” on the new gasket when
reinstalling the new IACV?

jesse Karas says:

@gtfiveliter It’s no kit. I bought an MAF adapter and slapped on a cone
filter from an auto parts store.

jesse Karas says:

@crammage o2 sensor.

xxCaptainFishstix says:

Thats thing is SO clean under the hood.

waydizzle13 says:

hey are you almost 100% positive that the little piece inside has to be
fully closed when taken out warm? i have a 94 ej20 wrx. same iacv as urs.
but mine doesn’t have that bad of idling problem that often… comes and go
every now and then… so i was just wondering if i should replace it or
not. thanks

Snakeplisskin440 says:

I think my IACV may be sticking. Once my car gets warmed up and I restart
when its warm, the RPM shoots to 1,000 then down to near stalling and
slowly evens in in the next couple seconds, idling rough for about half a
minute. Then its fine. On the road it’s perfectly fine. Starts up perfect
though. Was thinking about changing all my vacuum hoses and spraying some
cleaner into the IACV if not take it off and clean it.

joel phelps says:

holy 30r turbo, when you putting that in the forester, lol

jesse Karas says:

@scottclements78 Thanks, if you need any help let me know, send me a
message. I know these things like the back of my hand.

Vulgora says:

would mpgs drop if this is bad?

Tcheser says:

I like the part about putting your tools away so you don’t make your dad
angry. lol

jesse Karas says:

@SuperDonaldk I would most certainly try to find a bolt that holds it
together. It is 10 mm and about 2 inches long IIRC. Go to a dealer or find
a similar enough bolt. As long as you can get it in there snug you should
be good. Without the bolt you risk wear on the gasket and you could end up
having to replace it again prematurely.

paulraywilliams says:

Great, thanks, Jesse. Will your video work for any of those three engines?

jesse Karas says:

@crammage I would believe so. If the idle is oscillating, it will require
more fuel than if the idle would just be sitting at 700 rpms.

jesse Karas says:

@AIRampage I’m not 100% sure if it is the same for an EJ22G. Check out your
engine bay right quick, if there is one where mine is on the EJ22E, then
there you go. If there is nothing there than it is most likely located on
top of the throttle body where most newer Subaru IACVs are located, and
they are completely different sensors so check it out first.

Vulgora says:

@Jessekrs123 nope that just got replaced last year

Shinan Zhang says:

@Jessekrs123 I think we cant clean the iacv apart, cuz when u make it apart,
prob change everything, this is why the part comes with two 5 spoke screw
caps, but I think u can help me wiz the problem, thx for ur quick reply,u r
super nice and sorry about my poor english cuz my 1st language is not
English haha

wararipa says:

Hey ive gt a 89 subaru legacy, and wen im driving it starts making a loud
metalic grinding noise, cn u help me pleaz? Any advice wuld b very much
appreciatd

Foodi Bramble says:

so is that a regular deal from nappa or lordco because they quoted me 665 i
cant pay that were can i buy it for 200

jesse Karas says:

@ShinanJDM Was your new IACV adjusted properly? There should be 2 screws
which allow the valve to swivel therefore adjusting the extent of it’s
opening. It should sit pretty centered, check the position of it.

jesse Karas says:

@jphelps10 Haha, that was the stock turbo from my father’s 06 Dodge
Cummins. I don’t think the Forester would be able to handle 40 psi the way
it is now but, it’s my mom’s car, she’s pissed off me and my dad do stuff
to it behind her back already so who knows. Aren’t you the kid with the
older Impreza coupe who went to the first Waterbury/Wolcott meet? I looked
at your videos and you definitely look familiar.

paulraywilliams says:

I have a 1998 Outback. How can I tell if the engine is a EJ22E? And thus
know if I can follow this video to replace the IACV. I’m get a CEL code
telling me the valve is bad.

RevolvingGear says:

Hey man, great video. Super clear and easy to understand. I have a 99
Legacy Outback and it’s idling really weird.. When you start it warm it
idles at around 800 but while i’m in drive and say… at a stoplight, it
drops to like 350-400 and the motor sounds like its going to die. It hasn’t
actually died yet and I have no check engine light… Do you have any
ideas? Somewhere to start? The motor is an EJ25. Appreciate it!

shoe the maker says:

always put your tools away! we have this rule at my house lol.

Scott Clements says:

Mate your a legend. Thanks for sharing you have saved me paying some one to
do this.

colfair says:

hi , I have a ’99 legacy sedan, does exactly the same thing just been told
it’s probably the iacv so will clean it tomorrow, will let you know, Colin

soniqmishapunltd says:

hi.. just need to ask what is the benifit of a pod or cone filter? some say
the surface area is much greater than normal stock box filters so more air
can be sucked in.. and some say it delivers colder air to the engine?? what
is the reason u have decided to run this type of intake?

jesse Karas says:

@xxCaptainFishstix Thanks, when I took out the engine to do the clutch I
cleaned the whole engine bay and wire brushed/cleaned as much of the engine
as I could.

Don Runge says:

Very helpful your video. Changed the valve tonight and it runs very nice.
Question? My 98 legacy Bright 2.2 engine, The old valve when I took it out
only had 3 screws holding it on the manifold. It was brand new more or less
when I bought it in 99. So it must have been installed with only 3. The
left bottom corner closest to firewall the screw was missing and the gasket
was really corroded at that corner. Any thoughts. Should I try to install a
new screw, if I can find one, 10 mm right?
