and if you want to ensure that it will easily go in without marring the
seal, you can run some clean oil around it. It also helps it seal, believe
it or not.
think ill remove my trans and re[lace the rear main now. tks for the info
FYI, high on brake clean is dangerous.
Lol, loopy on the brake cleaner.
Lmfao hell ya dude. i like those headlights too!
That was hilarious
Could the main seal be reason my honda loses like a quart of oil every two
weeks?? That is where it looks like its coming from
Hey your vid helped me replace my seaL..BUT i broke my motor in with out
bolting the TQ converter up and now i found out my tq convrter wont but up
aqgainst my flex plate….its a 77 chevy K10, 350 from 95 chevy K1500 gong
into 77 Why wont the TQ converter go forward so i can bolt it up
Great video. Do you use sealant on main seal on SUBARU engines?
i got my civic’s rear main seal replaced, and after a couple of hours my
transmission i guess blew up in the middle of the road. does replacing the
rear main seal have anything to do with the transmission blowing up? I
guess it was out of transmission fluid that’s why it blew up.
that brake parts cleaner is good stuff. Try some PB blaster next time a
couple shots of that gets me high as a kite.
Have a 01 ford ranger xlt 4×4 gettin charged $650 fot my rear main seal
replaced. Too much?
Wonder how much for a Toyota Camry? I have no idea. Looks like a lot of
work.
Dude I like your videos specifically fram. BS…lol
I use it quite a bit, but not on everything. I really like it’s properties
for sealing in that it really webs/pizza cheeses. I got turned on to it by
Chrysler who uses it on all their seals that you can buy from the
dealership.
@briansmobile1 Thanks for the tips, I really appreciate it! I should have
stuck to 1 question at a time. Let me see if I got this right: 1. If I
clean up the seal holder and engine with brake cleaner where they meet I
can just use Right Stuff on the seal holder-to-engine interface. 2. I
should remove the rest of the RTV from the oil pan where it meets the seal
older, brake cleaner, then fill the gap with Right Stuff. Black RTV won’t
do it? IDK, that brake cleaner might be addictive!
@blackericdenice only the very back two nuts so you can get the seal
plate/housing out.
@electrohippyj If you clean it all up with brake cleaner and seal it with
Permatex Right Stuff gasket maker it will be fine.
It should be in properly and stop when the bevel cut on the inside diameter
of the seal hosing is flush with the face of the seal.
You’re welcome- thanks for your kind words!
Yes. Remove the transmission is the most common approach.
you are cool
not same as with other things
@midlantic1 lol
Bust-eh-caited
@12344richard Don’t ask me. I can’t tell you.
@nico27004 Yes. Or the flex plate if it’s an automatic.
@MrBrandorambo Really? I found it easy enough to only remove the tranny.
The hardest part was getting the axles out.
Thanks Chad- I appreciate your comments and insight. I can tell you’re a
pretty sharp car guy too!
thanx!!! it helps!
do i have to pull the motor or can i just pull the transmission to change
the rear seal on a 94chevy s10 blazer? 4.3
That’s good, edjamacation is key.
haha!! education with humor! that’s awesome!!
Why thank you- you’re too kind
thank you, thats my job for tommorrow, my daughters truck, i just restored
everything but the engine
@vianmiyo Most Subaru main seals never fail. The two access caps either
side of the rear main seal ALWAYS fail and have to be re sealed. See my
video on preparing Subaru motors before install.
Great videos, man. You’re one of the top car video guys on Youtube without
a doubt.
@brucekirk89 You can try cleaning it really well and looking at it running.
See if the soft rubber half circle part of the pan gasket is hanging out or
if it went into the pan. If that all looks good and the pan bolts are tight
it may likely be a rear main seal. You won’t KNOW what it was till the
repair is done and the results happen.
have them as well, guess they were popular
De nada amigo.
You can just pull the transmission. That’ll work.
wow i just noticed you are really in to rc
Right on! Apparently they’re good. They sure last a long time.
Cool stuff,thanks
