How to install a Subaru turbo inlet pipe

In this DIY Subaru turbo inlet video I show you step by step how to remove and install your turbo inlet pipe. In my case I installed an Ebay turbo inlet pipe on my 2004 JDM Legacy GT-B with the EJ20Y engine.
This Video will be applicable if you have a plastic intake manifold on your turbo Subaru engine.

Not only is this video great for showing the whole installation process of an aftermarket turbo inlet hose, but also shows all the vacuum lines distribution and locations behind the Intake Manifold, especially with that cross over plastic vacuum pipe that goes to the Intercooler. I recently installed an ej20X on my '05 Outback XT and this video is very helpful. Thanks!

I have an ej255, will I have to block off the front port on my rev9 inlet hose? Where the sensor bracket is 7:31

I got the Perrin one and I had it installed in less than an hour. Idk why. But I got super lucky and it just popped right on the turbo when I pushed it under the intake manifold. I had my buddy over to help and we laughed our asses off when we heard the inlet pop on to the turbo first try. Had to remove it the other day and sure enough. Popped right in no problem. The Perrin one is good. Overpriced though. Still had to trim mine.

I've been having some issues. Mostly my fault. Installed camshaft seal crooked so I was leaking a bit of oil on the passenger side exhaust. Fixed that. Complete nightmare. Then I had to replace my iacv sensor, while setting it I snapped the throttle cable. Replaced that. Then my flywheel starts grinding, and my starter goes out… I did a motor swap with an ej20x, and built the exhaust myself. My welding lacks craftsmanship I'm the first to admit. But it sounds beautiful! But now I need a new starter. I'm guessing. But its pretty obvious. When it rains it pours! This is a Bittersweet project it's the first one without the supervision of my dad so I have to remind myself I am not a mechanic I'm just a girl and sometimes I just have to sit in the corner of my garage in a fetal position watching YouTube crying. Eventually I'll get this boy running Tip Top. Yeah my car is a guy.. way to gender him

Lol "that's what she said…" Classic

Norm Peel says:

Haha I have the same jdm legacy with the ej20y and ordered that Rev9 turbo inlet, but it said it was for the 07-09 legacies. Nice to know it'll fit with some trimming

Yo Guys nice work! Car sounds great pulls hard! What is that digital gauge at top of dash? Looks like a double din stereo? Is that a gauge app? Thanks!

2slofouru says:

Seems it would be easier to pull off the top plastic intake section. Even with more bolts, getting the inlet lined up and hoses perfect may be easier.

hey man thanks for the info i did it just now huge pain in the ass u def helped out alot, what head unit are you running btw? it looked rly good

Robert Townsend says:

So what issues was u having with the old Intel tube having the hole/bad end

RPM Junky says:

How is that turbo inlet holding up? It’s tempting considering it’s less than half the price of a Perrin and it looks the same

J Wheelie says:

Kam, your video quality is so crisp in this vid. How did you do this with the GoPro???
