How-To install a starter in an 04 Subaru STi

This is to help a friend out with some starter issues he’s having. It’s a pretty basic install, nothing to crazy to be done just don’t forget to hook up and clamp all the hoses. You will figure it out quickly if you don’t anyway.

Thanks for wathcing!!!

I just got a 02 bugeye. When i start my car, Right when it turns over it makes a slight screech or noise like if you tried to start a car already started. Car runs great. Been maintained Dealer it's whole life. Has 155,000 miles. Am i gonna need a new starter soon probably? When i googled it, it seems common on higher mileage subie's? Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Spartanfan says:

I plan on doing this on my bugeye tomorrow. With this video should take no time at all.

is this similar to a 05 Subaru legacy 2.5 GT?

Is it the same for a 2003 WRX?

JayBoostin says:

I was wondering, I let my car sit over night and when I turned it on, it made a grinding sound then it sounds normal after. Is it my starter or alternator?

Khaosity says:

I have a 2006 wrx. Do you think the install would be similar to this? Gonna try to do it this weekend

Jeramie Myers says:

Thank you for the video! helped me replace my starter over the weekend

Subaru WRX says:

Wow, that was so simple lol. May have to change mines out soon. I have an issue and was wondering if you think it's my starter. I have a 02 wrx btw. Usually happens when the car has been driven and it sits for a bit. When I try to go back and start the car, there is no click or anything, but all the lights work on the dashboard. I have to literally turn it off and on a few times before it turns over. Sorry if you're confused, but I do have a video on my channel that shows what I'm talking about. I've changed the spark plugs, fuel filter, and check for any possible leaks. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks!

Scott Benner says:

thanks for the great videos man! ive used four of your videos to expedite the process on repairs and installs thanks dude! starters for both of my bugeyes took about 40 minutes thanks to this, that underside bolt is a pita to get leverage on the wrench.

Kyle S says:

Great video! Thank you. So glad I have a pit that I can access this from standing below. Took a look today and looks like I can get straight to the starter. A lift would be easy access too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Jarrod Flint says:

Thanks for uploading this, my 2002 WRX won't turn over so I am gonna take the intercooler off tomorrow and replace the starter.
