How to hide the wires when you are installing a dashcam, works similarly for many vehicles. This specifically is for 12-16 Subaru Impreza and 12-17 crosstrek

The green rotating clip was almost where I abandoned this project. Thank you for your help!

Jeff A says:

You should of used an add a curcuit and hardwired it in. Much easier and much cleaner install.

KoolMB says:

any advice for running the wire to a rear dashcam?

Darryl Torckler says:

Nice one, made it easy to do with your video, thanks.

Nice video! Thank you!

Thanks so much. Your guide allowed me to complete install in around 20 min (even without a grabby tool). Everything was just mirrored as I live in Australia. I heard the little clip you mention at 4:54 fall off as I put things back together, but didn't bother worrying about it.

Thanks for watching, subs are super helpful!

Any more information on running the cable through the opening by the auxiliary power source? The opening I have in my 2019 wrx is filled with a red LED light.

Henry Taala says:

thank you kurt! just got a dashcam for christmas with the hardwire kit and I’m curious as to how people ran it on a crosstrek, happy new year!

Kelvin Angelo Ygar says:

Hi! Curious if you had disconnected first your battery and/or your airbag fuse before doing this and removing panel near the airbag curtain.

Konstantin Läufer says:

Thank you, this was super helpful, especially the part about rotating the bright green clip!

I ended up hardwiring mine right into the interior fuse box using add-a-circuit fuse taps. To support parking mode on certain dash cams (such as my Garmin 56), you need an always hot fuse and an accessory switched one.

Virgil StJohn says:

Thank you! This simplified doing the same install on an XV. Takes about ten minutes, when you're armed with this information.

TBH, you would have to be pretty ham-fisted to break the clips as they're rather well made.

A mini-spatula for plastering/filling makes an ideal panel removal tool for about $0.50. About the size of a credit card it has one 'sharp' edge for fine filling and is just the right size for popping panels off without scratches.

Robert says:

I want to do this but I am sure I will break a clip and not be able to get something back on like it was. I will have to go the janky route
