How to burp your cooling system. If you do work in your cooling system that requires you to drain your coolant, you have to purge the system of air or “burp” the system. In this video I show you how to easily do that with a no-spill kit. The car shown is a 2020Subaru STI, but this is the same exact process regardless of car.

How do you prevent the coolant from the hose at top of the mouth from spilling out? When I tried this the coolant splashed against the side of the adapter and came out.
Just to clarify, did you fill the radiator itself up first or only fill everything from the top expansion tank?
The connecter I used started leaking and some coolent started coming from the cap any ideas why??
Do I need car on ramps while doing this?

How do you keep the coolant from rising and overflowing the funnel though?
I saw mine rise above 300 ml ran to turn engine off, and the coolant kept rising until it overflowed!

I purchased that same funnel you used in this video. Can I do this process by connecting it to my coolant reservoir tank instead of directly to the radiator?
What would you say would cause a vehicle to violently force coolant front the no spill funnel after the fans have cycled on, and the vehicle has come to operation temp?
What about the coolant already in the reservoir? Do I bleed that first?
Can I make it trough coolant reservoir, attaching to it this tool? It is the highest point to fill the coolant.

I just flushed my 2021 Acura, using the same funnel. Replaced new coolant, but I’m only getting heat, when I set the controls to high heat? I burped the upper and lower hoses, still no heat at anything but high? Any suggestions?

2007 STI over here. Just bought a brand new oem turbo and wasn't aware of this. Needless to say, I am now shopping for a new turbo. BUT… when my new one goes on, I'll be sure to properly purge the system of air and be sure all the fluids are at level where they need to be. Thanks for this video even though this was made 3 years ago. It's still relevant as a maintenance step to be sure your XT/WRX/STI is running in perfect shape!
I have a 2003 Honda Civic LX with no bleeder valve and did everything this man did and it still didn't work. What I found out later is that you leave that funnel with coolant attached after shutting off the engine. Do not plug it. Let the coolant and engine cool overnight. As the coolant in the radiator and engine gets cold it contracts creating a vacuum sucking more coolant from the funnel. If you remove the fumnel too early, you risk sucking in air instead.
I watched your video and did this last night. The spill proof funnel kit is a total game changer. I went with the EPAuto one mostly because it was able to be delivered sooner. I do like that it's caps and adapters are color coded so you can easily match them. For my '05 WRX it was the green set. After filling I ran the car for nearly 30 minutes before it was no longer bubbling at all, massaging the upper hose throughout the process. I then shut if off and let it sit overnight. By pure luck, the level dropped to the exact right level in the upper coolant fill tank. Thanks for putting this together, awesome job!
