Somehow this managed to fix my rev limiter but not my speedometer. Prior to
doing this fix my RPMs were limited to 4500 RPM. Any ideas of why this
happened not that I’m complaining? 🙂
Wow, you are A Genius man how did you find that it was the issue. i spend
hours upon hours of diagnosis and i knew it was the connector but i thought
it was the wire so i resoldered it….lol
just did exactly this and took my 99 legacy on a test drive and so far so
good. anyone watching this defintley give this a shot before even bringing
it to a mechanic
This doesn’t always work. You see the one contact screw that does not have
a trace leading to it? This is the same as the blue connector that the vss
signal feeds into. Run a wire to that contact instead. It’s a lot more
solid connection.
My 2008 Subaru’s speedometer and odometer are not working. I washed the
front floors yesterday and vacuumed the water with a dry vac. Could there
be a connection? When I start the engine the odometer reads 0 but as soon
as I start to move, :ER 5P appears in the odometer display
THANK YOU. I’ve never done any work on my own car before, and I was able to
do this. It took me about 45 minutes, and most of that time was spent
jiggling the instrument cluster to get it out from behind the steering
wheel. And it WORKED, at least in the immediate.
looks cool but anyone know what to do when you don’t have that blue plug.
my one is a Subaru forester 97 manual the speedo works somtimes but then
stops
So far, so good, your little trick works! Incredible, the subaru dealer was
ready to charge me 500$ to replace the whole cluster!!! Thanks!
Great troubleshooting and a great workaround for the problem!
