So it appears you already wired and shrink wrapped the harness. Did the wires match color for color? Were there any wire coming from the stock wire bundle that were not connected to the new harness? Also, the harness you linked states 93 – 94. I take it this will ALSO work with the 2005-2009? In addition, what deck are you using, and how much of a sound quality improvement did you notice using stock speakers? Thanks!

JacobNorth44 says:

On the stock radio, were there RCA ports on the back? I was hoping to install an MP3 cord, and one article i read claims there are 2 RCA jacks in the back of the stereo, which would make it pretty easy

John Bonell says:

Great video. I’ve ordered a DEH-80PRS Pioneer from Crutchfield and expect to get it in a few days. You’ve lowered my anxiety about self installation. Keep up the great work.

Matt Parker says:

also with the sub and everything i dont have one cause i need all my trunk space and plus the stock stuff has a really nice kick to it!

Matt Parker says:

the single black wire? if thats the one your talking about then nothing just left it in the console everything i showed in the video is what i did.

Matt Parker says:

without me actually seeing it for myself i can only guess. First i would re-check the wiring making sure everything is correct (Never hurts to double check). If you had sound before and now no sound there could be something wrong with the radio unit itself.possibly even a defective harness but it seems unlikely cause there would be some sound out of some speakers.

Frank Brank says:

Sooo I hooked everything up and the head unit works perfectly with no sound through the speakers. The harness is wired correctly. Do you have any idea what it might be?

Matt Parker says:

going to your after market radio it should be color coded, it was for me.

Frank Brank says:

Hey Matt. I just ordered the connector for the main power, speakers, etc. Are the wires already color-coded to most aftermarket head units?

Yuki Yano says:

reat video. I have all kits you listed and ready to try this weekend. Now, couple questions. 1. I have black (ground) wire from stereo. What did you do with that? 2. I have aftermarket amp/sub woofer from previous owner. Anything that I need to know? I am hoping that I just need to plug connector,, since it’s connected to stock stereo. lmk. Thanks!!

Matt Parker says:

you can try a Subaru dealer

Markus W says:

Hi, I have a question I need the radio cover where is the climate control inside down and not that of the rotary switches, does anyone know where I can get the Panel produced?

Matt Parker says:

check the description for the video links for everything I used.

jonathan wall says:

hey…. where can I purchase the aftermarket inter face, you bought for the Subaru legacy? cause metra is asking for wholesale/company info to buy it from there website.

Matt Parker says:

according to the official metra site (metraonline) the kit i used will work on 05-09 so you should be good.

xoblueox says:

nice stuff man, I checked out the kit you used and im trying to find one for a 08 model, it says for 05-07 but i did a fitment check on amazon and it says it’ll fit, reckon it will?

Matt Parker says:

the wires i used are to connect to factory wiring so i don’t void and warrenties i have but the radio u buy will come with the connector for that radio then u just match the colors to Metra 70-8901

Matt Parker says:

no subs i need all the trunk space i can get but the stock speakers kick pretty hard and sound great with the radio i have. I’ve had people ask me what system i have in my car are they are shocked when i tell them all i changed was the radio

Matt Parker says:

it just becomes a storage compartment works awesome when i have my phone plugged in to the AUX port so it doesn’t slide of the center console or the seat like in other vehicles i had in the past. plus i keep pens and my sunglasses in there also.

Matt Parker says:

i had no problem with the length of the wire. Yes it could be a little longer but it’s fine. I was reading the same things on amazon but said forget it and went along with it anyways

Alerity1 says:

And the CD unit you took out? You know, where there’s now a big, gaping hole?

Colin Katagiri says:

People on Amazon are saying that the antenna adapter (Metra 40-SB10) was too short. Did you extend that wire? It didn’t look like you had any problems… or is Amazon just full of rookies?

chrom3titan says:

great video bro

XxiCAMPxX says:

Great video man! helped a ton! i see you did that but you dont have subs? :p or do you? any suggestions on where to run the wires?

ApolloStar IV says:

awesome thanks man!

Matt Parker says:

done just check the video info

ApolloStar IV says:

can you leave a link in the description to where you got that Metra 70-8901 cable from? I was gonna wire them myself but I’m lazy

Arjit Barua says:

So the cables that you used can hook up to most aftermarket head units? I’m defintely a novice so excuse my naivety.
