In this video, I show how to change a fuel filter in an older Subaru 2.2L. This should also apply to other models. check out my blog: http://mercedesdieselgu…

Thanks. These can be hard to remove after a long time. Still worth doing, though. As for the bike tube, I think it makes a pretty good hose protection boot in a pinch.

A. J. Tarnas says:

Nice bike tube gasket. I duct taped mine back together. The hoses on mine were hard to get off.

MercedesDieselGuy says:

Offhand, I don’t know, and I wouldn’t think it would cause any additional problem, other than venting gas vapor. But, I’m not sure. I’d have to look into that.

Shishizurui says:

Hey MD, I have an Evap Check engine, and i figure its the filler neck to the tank.
my first question is does it really hurt the car to have that?

because i’m not going to replace the neck until it starts leaking and spilling gas.
( which that would be an interesting video to see you do!)

MercedesDieselGuy says:

I don’t know for sure, but there’s no strange noises. Runs smooth and quiet. I’m going to replace the belt again in 2014, and will be sure to replace the idlers then, too. It’s a non-interference engine, so I’m not too worried about it.

Michael Sackstein says:

Do you know if the idler pulleys and camshafts were replaced when the timing belt was done?

Shishizurui says:

Most cars put that under the body, Subaru sure makes things simple.
