Sorry it didn’t help. As with all my videos, this was a real time repair on my own car. Can you be more specific about what info would be helpful, should I ever need to do the job on another car?
Mostly, you remove the outer tie rod end, remove the rubber boot, and then use the inner tie rod tool to break it free from the rack.
Your video was of no help at all. You cut out most of the most important removal and installation steps. Take the time to include the full process. Thx.
My apologies if I missed something. I do these videos in real time as I fix my own car. I do my best to film all steps involved. This was one of my earlier videos on this car, and as such, not one of my best. Sometimes, a step is too difficult to film in progress, I do my best to describe it verbally. Did I completely miss a step?
can you call this a “full” DIY if you cut out the parts where you actually remove things?
Threads – don’t remember offhand. I think it’s standard for both (not sure if that means left or right, but lefty-loosey applied… I think), but don’t quote me on that. No, I had no growling. The car didn’t show any symptoms while driving, but when I raised the front wheels off the ground, there was a lot of play.
left or right handed threads?on the inner? and di your tires growl a bit when you turn the wheels while driving?
Egad – very good catch. I/2 mm and 1/2 “ are pretty far apart. Chalk that one up to thinking in metric too often. Thanks for the catch.
at 3:25 “you turn it with a half millimeter… bar” should be 1/2 INCH.
You’re welcome. Hope it comes in handy.
Thanks for posting.
Unfortunately, I don’t know. I’m not familiar with Mazdas or the aftermarket parts available for them. I’d recommend trying to get an exact replacement.
i have a question… i have a mazda, and i need to replace the inner tie rod end, but the replacement part is like 1/2 inch shorter than the one installed in the car. would it be dangerous to install the shorter part? i cant find an exact OEM replacement…
Sorry, my friend. It was cold and raining. I had to cut some corners to get the car fixed and get a video done. I’ll keep that in mind for next time, though.
You didn’t film off the cool parts..popping the ball joint, show how exactly that tool works, seeing it being cracked off..these are all the things people wanna see
