MercedesDieselGuy says:

One hole was stripped for me. Previous owner had drilled and tapped it out larger. If you’re careful, that, or a helicoil are options. More difficult, but not impossible with the engine in the car.

Hector alvarez says:

what if its strip ?

MercedesDieselGuy says:

Moderately, at least. I have a series of videos on replacing a whole cylinder head on a 1995 Legacy, which involves a new head gasket. It’s not a complete DIY, but is a decent overview.

Matthew Hume says:

How difficult is it to replace the head-gasket on an EJ22?

MercedesDieselGuy says:

Every single spark plug I’ve bought has been bone dry and clean. But, I do add it to new spark plugs.

Michael Sackstein says:

I’ll tell u something about the anti-seize. A lot of spark plugs nowadays are pre-coated in antiseize so u don’t had to do it with those. Not sure if this is the case with exhaust bolts, but it never hurts to use it.

MercedesDieselGuy says:

Well, maybe if they’re not rusted. He is a pro technician, so I’d hate to contradict him, but using an impact gun just looks like a bad idea on these, in my opinion.

Michael Sackstein says:

Idk for sure. That was just what Ericthecarguy always says.

MercedesDieselGuy says:

I would disagree on an impact gun for this one. Seems like that would increase the chances of causing damage.

Michael Sackstein says:

it helps if you spray the bolts down with penetrating oil before removing them, that reduces the chances of them breaking. and of course an impact gun is the way to go with this procedure.
