My wiper blades we out of sync. One blade was fine but the other only went half way up the window. They got tangled and scraped each other. I thought it was going to be an expensive repair job, and possibly an issue with the wiper motor or mechanics. With a few turns of a socket, I was able to figure out how to repair (or even remove) the wiper arms from the pivot point.
