4:30 The quick connectors at the firewall are the main cause of the head blown gaskets. Replace them with real clamps at purchase of buying a used Saturn 2.2 DOHC or other car makes with 2.4 DOHC engines. An 'Elbow' may need be included as to not obstruct the flow to the heater core.

UnhingedWilly says:

I love Saturn's. The first gen had good engine design and were decent quality. Everything after 97 started going downhill. Looking for another saturn right now! Anyone in MN selling a SC2 or SW2 let me know! Fun cars to drive and handle well in corners

Ryan Kenyon says:

They were good cars. You're wrong.

J Wreck says:

22 years on a trans is pretty reliable. Especially for a saturn

Justin serna says:

Hope you are in Mexico running them stop signs

Aspie Otaku says:

Early Saturn's were good newer ones were garbage.

Jeffry Brooks says:

Bonnie Strait says:

Hi Scotty I have a 2005 Saturn ion 4 cylinder I have 231,180 miles! Having problems engine light stays on and the airbag light comes on when I hit a bump . While driving it dies in drive locks up because I blew a ignition fuse! It still gets 30 miles to a gal! I absolutely love your videos! Could you do a 2005 Saturn ion 4 cylinder 2.2 Lt 4 Dr automatic video! I need to take stocks in a tow truck! It's always dieing ! Electric problem s fuses! LOL my instrument panel is in the center of the dash! Battery in the trunk

AnnualCorgi says:

I bought a standard SW for $900 and it's been the best car I've ever owned. I'll never let it go. Some of the later models were the real bad ones, but the S series? Nah.

albear972 says:

I'm still driving the Saturn L-100 SE that I bought brand new with 2 miles in June 2002. The most reliable car I have ever owned. It never burns oil. I do admit, it still has the original equipment power steering fluid and coolant. But it has no leaks of any kind whatsoever. I'll drive it until it dies or vise-versa. Nice blowing stop signs too.

TheQuatchman says:

Wrong yet again.

K J says:

It's April 2022, and I'm still driving my 1998 Saturn SL2, it's been very reliable.

Glennstrickland Strickland says:

I have a 07 vue great car no problems

314to817stl says:

I had a 99 Saturn just like yea it was cheap quality unfortunately seats but good on gas and never had any problems with it over 240xxx miles when I sold it and when I bought it the transmission was a little weird it would shift to 2nd late sometimes 3rd it would randomly downshift sometimes too but when I stopped on it, it still went it was still very reliable drove it over a year put 50k on it. Had another one 95 sl1 5 speed had 320k miles had no problems with it but had a blow out on highway messed up a bunch of wires wouldn't start anymore

Plain Truths says:

Scotty, you said "for only about $3,000 more, you could have bought a Toyota Camry" like $3,000 is just pocket change? Do you realize what kind of cars we're talking about here?! $3,000 is a huge difference when we're talking about $10,000 for a car. The kind of person who buys cars for less than $20,000 is definitely going to have a hard time buying a similar car for 30% more money. Considering this car has been on the streets for 20+ years, the owner certainly made the most cost-effective purchase. Toyotas have more features, such as a CD player, power locks, etc but those are unnecessary for the simple task of getting to work. Why spend $3,000 for a slightly fancier car when it's just going to be used ultimately for the same task?

Er Mori says:

I value Scotty's opinion and I've learned a lot of things watching his videos. And I intend to keep watching his videos. Regarding this video I feel it wasn't a fair review. I don't doubt that this car is on this last leg or on the way out but you see that in all cars all makes. I could tell by the tone in his voice that this car didn't stand a chance if you do a review on the junk car your review is going to be that it's a junk car. If somebody I know is looking for a car I recommend Toyota's and Hondas. There are people that take care of other cars regardless of the make and you can find a decent used car that will last you quite a while my friend actually got a 97 SL2 8 years ago for $200. I still see these cars out on the road all the time. I do agree with you on the GM 6 cylinder it's trash. Even when they were new I didn't see a good one. Anyway I just don't feel that this was a fair review at all. That was very disappointing

Eric Neumann says:

More proof this guy likes to hear his own voice.

Steve Butler says:

Saturn is the PERFECT opposite of viagra for cars. Anti-Sexy as a plastic wedge door stop with pine-wood derby plastic wheels. That spoiler on the coupe helps it get just over 73 mpg on flat ground.

OBS Chevy GMT400 says:

Idk, a lot of consumers say Saturns, while being cheap, plastic-ey and not very stylish, were reliable and and economical, and I know a lot of people who owned them and got lots of miles out of them.

giberish9 says:

My first saturn s series i paid $1000. Had 236k. First car that didn't leak anything. Burned a ridiculous amount of oil 1qt/600 miles. Drove it 4 years. Sold with 351k Next saturn s series, a '01 sw2 automatic. Paid $2k and rust free. It's not the same without the 5 speed. Next will be a 2nd gen with 5 speed

Jason B says:

I can't say I agree on the Saturn=crap theory. I own a 2003 L300 with 250,000 miles on it. Sure the interior is starting to fall apart in places, and the AC isn't working on account of a condenser leak. Otherwise it still runs great and really has been a good car.
