Albert Corley says:

I changed the cr-2032 lithium battery in my Saturn, but for some reason my Saturn has no audio to accompany the displayed images. It does play games just fine and I did not have the audio problem prior to when I had to change the battery. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch. P.S. Do you know where I can find a memory cartridge for the Saturn?

Neil Brown says:

hv a usa saturn plays games just no sound is it a bad cable or issue with the console?

Nuno Orton says:

I need help with my Saturn!!!

daniel070487 says:

every Scart-RGB cable I seen, has had 220uF capacitors on each of the R – G – B lines. why hasn’t the Saturn cable such capacitors?

hazuken says:

The one with no power ended up having a burnt out fuse.. I replaced that, but I tell you it’s odd, no picture, but when I tweak the av wire in the port it comes up, very barely noticable waves going down, but sadly I have no controller and now I need to replace those pesky CR2032 batteries thankfully there is one in an old genesis golf game I have ha ha. also there is something that leaked in one, not sure what it is looks like a cap but it’s skinny and silver and in the F7 spot 0_o

RetroRepair says:

For the one with no power I’d check the fuse on the internal power supply (be careful, even when turned off those things hold a painful charge!). For the one with no picture I’ve no idea, maybe see if it’s got sound at least? NTSC/PAL won’t make a difference here.

hazuken says:

Retro I have 2 saturns coming in, one has no power and the other no picture, any ideas? I watched this but I am of USA, so I use NTSC not Pal, if you have any ideas pm me and let me know, or if email or Instant message is easier just pm me , thanks!

RetroRepair says:

Thanks for the tip, though I’ve never had a problem with this myself. Sounds feasible though and it’s duly noted.

DLiberator78 says:

Great tutorial, however you should never blow on solder in order to cool it down faster. The moisture in your breath could make bad joints and reduce reliability on the joints, it can also cause conductive issues in the solder. Thanks for the tips, you have a great channel and I look forward to watching your other repair vids.

cabsk8er7 says:

Yeah it spins, but no picture. Its ok though, I just got another and it works! Thanks!

RetroRepair says:

It sounds as though the laser might be faulty or your discs are quite badly damaged except Myst. Can you hear the CD drive doing anything on the other games?

cabsk8er7 says:

Whats wrong with my Saturn? It works perfectly fine and when I put in all my games (Except for Myst, oddly enough) it doesn’t show picture or sound, it just sort of sits in an idle state. I find it weird how Myst works perfectly fine though.

RetroRepair says:

Sounds like it’s a problem with the TV and how it handles the signal. Is it a console from your region?

1984Doomtrain says:

Im using a projection tv circa 07-08 when i play Tekken two the picture is beautiful when I play corpse killer, or xmen the picture flickers. I think that my tv cant adjust to the older model av outputs. Is there a way to fix this.

RetroRepair says:

Flickering how? Is there a way you can upload a video to demonstrate? It could be your TV has issues displaying older signals, or you have an NTSC console and a PAL TV or vice versa? Have you got another TV you can test it on?

1984Doomtrain says:

Im having a picture problem with my saturn. The picture CONSTANTLY flickers. All games work for the system. Its just that the flickering picture is very annoying. I have s video cables for my saturn btw. Should I by new S-Video cables, or is the saturn having a problem with my modern flat screen? Or. it the video output messed up?

james42519 says:

i will never understand scart. like having all the connections separate.

RetroRepair says:

Thanks mate yeah hope it gets passed round enough that others will see it, seems a common issue.

futurematt5 says:

Great video mate, glad you got it sorted, and this will be a great resource for people to use in the future.

WickedClownNZ says:

forsure man. you might have been able to find mint saturns binned cause of dodgy cables hahah that would suck

RetroRepair says:

Yeah at first I just thought it must be my cable that someone messed with but I guess looking around it’s a pretty common thing if those guys are having the same issue which they have to be, the symptom’s and setups are identical. I wonder how many people binned their whole console thinking it was faulty?!

WickedClownNZ says:

thats crazy man how from the factory this thing came wired in a way that its not compatible with your scart socket on your tv. nice job on fiing the problem tho dude. keep it up!!

RetroRepair says:

Manufacturing defect? Simple oversight? Cheap labour? I’m honestly not sure but like I said, I’m not sure if this is a Sega cable or third party. Others seem to have had the same issue before and this is what fixed it for me. Maybe they are all like it, maybe only a select few are.

RetroRepair says:

Hi mate ^_^ Try taking a look at the SCART plug, I just added the pinout to the description.

About the 3DO, I’ll need more info. Do you want to drop me a message?
