Sega Saturn cartridge slot ‘fix’.

Showing a hacky sort of fix I used on my Sega Saturn to get it’s picky cartridge slot to easily recognize cartridges.

I don’t know how SEGA got the Saturn’s cart slot so wrong. My Jp Saturn I
bought back in May ’95 has always given me problems with not only the
memory cart, but also the 1mb, 4mb and KoF’95 ROM cart. I always thought it
was my system until I bought another when I went to live in Japan. That
system gave me the same hassles with the carts. I just bought a white
Saturn to mod so I can back up all my games. I wonder how it will fare with
the carts?

MrSiggler says:

It’s a memory expansion cartridge, used for adding more save game storage
to the console.

So does the cartridge have to be slightly loose to work properly? I use the
4MB RAM cart for games that require it but sometimes I have to take it out
repeatedly until it finally works. Is it just me or could be a bad
cartridge/ or cartridge slot?

ok thanks 🙂

Zentron says:

That’s a long scratch on the top of your unit 🙁 I’ve had the same problem
with the cart, though I never thought of loosening the screws at the side!
Good tip 🙂 Now I won’t have to fidget around with getting the cart in the
right place 😀

what exactly does the cart do ? is it a game ?
