It would not supprise me at all !! Having a car full of interconnected
computers is annoying as well, i agree that a engine management computer is
good at controlling the engine, but dont connect it to anything else. You
really dont need computers to run a car, its just overkill and more
overcomplex crap to go wrong. Ooow i did have a good moan there lol :-))
I believe it is to force customers to take their car to the dealer for
small issues. Just what I believe.
don’t mean to smother you with codes but I keep getting these codes and my
Saturn wont drive no more. when I start it, it goes into home mode and says
reduce engine power driving no more than 2 mph
P1780 Definition: Park neutral position switch circuit fault Explanation:
ECM has detected a faulty signal from PNP switch probable cause: Check for
poor electrical connection, failed pnp switch
P2119 Definition: Throttle actuator control system fault. Explanation: the
ecm detected that the throttle blade did not return to the correct at rest
position Probable cause: Check for throttle plate obstruction, binding
throttle plate, throttle plate actuator failure
P2135 Definition Throttle position sensor 1-2 correlation Explanation: the
ECM has detected that tps1 and tps2 disagree more than 4.5 percent for less
than 1 second Probable cause: poor electric connection, failed tps
lol I finally got it off, replaced it, went back to auto zone to get the
diagnostics, and im getting the same codes. I don’t know what else to do. I
already spend a lot of money on parts. I changed my throttle body,
accelerator pedal position sensor, mass air flow meter, and im still
getting the same codes.
P0121 Definition: TP sensor Explanation: The throttle position signal is
used for various systems in the vehicle. Probable cause:Sensor open or
shorted internally replace component, check connector and wiring to sensor
these are the codes (maybe you can give me a good pointer): P0220
Definition:TPS(throttle position sensor)/APP Accel. pedal position)
performance condition/except Mitsubishi fuel pump relay.. Explanation: the
power train control module monitors the TPS/APP sensor for errors. probable
cause: TPS or APP sensor shortened or open, Check connector and wiring to
sensor
I must have smaller hands because i did not have that much trouble.
thanks a lot for the video, this was very helpful, but I have a problem
getting to the last bolt in the back. the 2 bolts in the front is easy but
the one in the back is killing me, what should I do?

Rich did you say TPS ? They install it on the the gas pedal now? And you
have to purchase that whole assembly? Noooooooo!
Im sure electronics can be good, but im just a bit old fashoned. Give me a
coaxial mechanical cable any day, i suspect you may be of a similar mind
🙂 It seems that car makers love making simple stuff over complex, and its
just not needed.
Are you sure you don’t mean the accelerator pedal position sensor (APP) or
something similar. The drive by wire stuff I’ve been involved with have
both APP and TPS… Hate drive by wire, it’s way too ‘Rube Goldberg’. DBW
is going to be a real PITA once cars so equipped start aging. BTW, be
careful around those DBW throttle bodies when energized… they can really
bite fingers.
Yes give me a cable any day call me old fashion.
This is why I won’t buy a new car.
No i wont mate, we know what works and is a tried and trusted technology
