My Sc2 Saturn started out once a month I had to turn the key 4 tries before it would start (no clicking but lights would come on) then it started once every week and now I went out today and any number of tries it won’t start. Lights come on still and I popped the hood and jiggled some wires around and went to start it and it starts up but if I turn it off it goes back to the same problem. Thoughts?
My shop want’s to charge me for 3 hours work to replace the starter on mine! Because it is sooo hard to get to! It took him 7 minutes!
on the starter and yes i have looked could there be a cover on it and on what i think is the stter i have 2 wire on the very top thick red on left and a thin purple ( i think on right )
sorry i didnt answer your question……if you lay down and go directly under the car past the oil pan and right behind the intake manifold is the starter its up there a lil bit and so tight too (thanks GM ya turds) and the fuel pump is also a GM thing it wasnt like that in the early years these cars started as geo storms in fact the geo storm twin cam motor is the same block! see all Geo’s wernt all bad ….ok they were crap who am I kidding hope this helps!

5 speed? errrr was the starter NEW or re-manufactured this make a difference I wanna say bad starter but stripped fly wheel also comes into mind.
hey man great video..my husband changed the starter in our sc2 and I took it around town and it started to smoke,,it stunk so band and the smoke cam ethrough the vents…well i pulled over on the highway..husband came to rescue me and the NEW STARTER was pooched..fucked not working….WTF please help…

ive got an 02 sl1. im almost certain that the starter must be replaced. i wish you had more light so i could see exactly where the starter is located because i cant even find the damn thing on my car and im pissed. it must be said shes been really good to me. 150000 mi, 4 or so brake pad replacements, regrettably infrequent oil changes, one tune up and one fuel pump(fuck the designers of that shit). i hope she’ll last me 150000 more but i doubt it. and people tell me saturns are shitty cars, ha
