Saturn Power Window Fix

Saturn Power Window Fix

I only made this video to show people how easy it was to fix our power window problem by fixing the ground wire to the electrical connector plug. This is the second time we have had to fix a bad ground wire. The other bad ground wire problem caused my son’s instrument cluster to stop working on a 2000 Suburban. See this video if you are interested in fixing an instrument cluster on a Suburban that might have a ground wire problem.

This video is for a 2005 Saturn Ion Coupe where both the driver’s side and the passenger’s side windows broke about the same time. My son also thought the lock and unlock button located on the interior door panel, quit working about the same time.

Fixing the ground wire problem fixed all three problems.
If you have, the same ground wire problems we had, you will need these tools to trouble shoot and fix the problem.

A test light will do or a Multimeter or voltmeter, Test leads, alligator clips, needle probe for test leads or a paper clips can work. Flat blade screwdriver and Phillips head screwdriver, Sharp knife and/or wire insulation-stripping tool, Electrical tape, short piece of wire for your new ground, say 18 gauge or speaker wire will work.

If you do not have some of the above tools or items you can google them or look on ebay or Amazon.

If you are a Do It Yourself person, a good meter or test light, electrical test leads, needle probes, adaptors and clips will help you many times in the future since it seems more things are electronic now days.

If you do have power to the brown connector switch with the key on, but still no power window, then, mostly likely you either have a bad push button switch or a bad window motor and or regulator.

Here is hoping your problem was just a bad ground, as we had. We did not have to buy any new parts and it was a really easy fix.
Good Luck

Great video. My passanger side window on my 2007 Saturn Ion will not go up but it will go down. Pulled regulator out and confirmed it goes up and down by jumping it. I swapped rear window switch with front window switch and same thing. It goes down but no up.

Could this be a ground issue?
