Saturn L Series Seat Repair

Saturn L Series Seat Repair

The drivers seat in Saturn L series developed a sink hole at the back, so I repaired it using sheet metal and rivets. The seat can also be repaired using 100 feet of shock cord, as a friend used that method, weaving it under the seat.

Easiest fix is to remove the 2 metal bars from the broken rubber/mesh at each end and then install 3 boat battery case straps (available for cheap), threading them around the metal rods and then tightening them. Done. Hardest part of the entire fix is removing the seat.

good job! I have a 2003 lw200 wagon and the seat is same as yours was; need to see how to get the seat out of the car also if you care to show. Thanks

Great job! Thanks for the vido. I have the same problem. Questions: Do you know what gauge you used for the sheet metal? and now that you are sitting in it would you recommend a thicker gauge? Thanx

Go to the junkyard and get the heated, leather front seats out of an NG900, OG9-5 or OG9-3 SAAB. They're much more comfortable and much higher quality, and since those cars are also on the GM2900 platform the L Series uses, they should bolt right in. 🙂

I drive an NG900 SAAB and the drivers seat is one of my favorite things about it.

I wonder if they sell that part as a replacement piece if so I wonder how much, if you think about it that should be a recall item, say if a short person was driving and all of a sudden that rips they could potentially hit the floor of the car that could potentially get into an accident.

Seats in my escort are rubbish but I won't be able to fix a factory recall
