not

NJtrainer says:

Rich
thanks,, this is very helpful, and explained very well. I love your accent
too. I wonder if people will appreciate my NY/NJ accent, when I do some How
to videos.
Tom in NJ !

7dv says:

Hi Rich, I bought a 2005 Saturn Ion MP3 radio off Ebay to put in my 99
SL1. I did not get a pigtail with it and the connector on my 99 is
different,
Do you know the pinout for that radio so I can modify my original connector
to work?

Brendan Sharer says:

This doesn’t teach me shit hahah

richpin06a says:

As far as i know the radio can not disable the car.I have never had any
problem on the Saturn in regards to it loosing programming.

Andrew H. says:

every deck i put in my car will blow the deck fuse after a few minutes i
will replace deck and it will do the same thing .could it be a bad ground
from battery? Thank you ! ive owned the car sence it was brand new 1996 sc2
i had a deck professionally installed when i first bought it worked fine
until 2006 then for no reason deck went blank so i tried to replace it
thats when every deck i installed blew a fuse.

Brent Willis says:

Can you show my how to unlock this same radio once my battery has died and
it is in LOC mode?

valuptuous1016 says:

richpin my saturn has a anti-thift on my radio said i need a code help.

richpin06a says:

@Bass2Intense No it is different.

richpin06a says:

thanks for the kind words

Bass2Intense says:

would it be pretty much the same on a 2001 sl1? i got a cd player in mine.
Its okay if you dont know the answer…

richpin06a says:

When you turn on you head lights it turns on the light in the radio.I bet
you will find a blown fuse in the light circuit.

Robin Stratwood says:

Thanks for your help richpin, I’ll try it.

valuptuous1016 says:

well the thing is the radio has no nobs they all broke off and the radio
will not work any more so now what do I do?

richpin06a says:

@MrRaiders6769 Yes i just checked and there are no google ads on this video
maybe half of all the videos i have, have them.

richpin06a says:

@valuptuous1016 If you forgot your code you have to call your retailer to
reset the radio.

richpin06a says:

@PrinceFX Crutchfield is pretty good.

richpin06a says:

@MrRaiders6769 If you want to show your appreciation find my videos with
the google adds off to the side and click on them they give me a few cents
and it all adds up.Your radio problem sounds like a possible problem with
the non switched power wire to the radio or something in the radio and if
that is the case i would be looking at a new radio.

Dustin Fraize says:

This video really helped how to take it out I got a 99 saturn to just
bought it two weeks ago, But I got a sony xploid radio I want to put in and
the Harness in the back is different from that harness for the radio
already in the car how do I change the harnesses?

CanadianBackBacon says:

Thanks Richpin, another great video. I have a couple of questions, which I
must break into a few coments. My daughter got a a new stereo and sub for
Christmas from her very generous big brother. We installed it in her 97
Saturn SL2. As usual I started with your site before starting any work. The
install went great and the stereo sounds really good, the only problem is,
the car will no longer start. It started to kick in for a second or two,
twice then died.

ScubaStavee says:

@richpin06a thanks, very helpful video.

SuperWatson63 says:

Thanks to your video,I was able to easily install an aftermarket jvc radio
in my 96 sc2. now, I have to figure out how to put a new passenger side
window motor in. You must have worked for saturn cause of how much you know
how they were assembled. thanks again. john

shanyonthetwin says:

could the cluster have a fuse

valuptuous1016 says:

My radio is bigger do you show that one? It’s 1999 SW2 it doesn’t have that
space in the middle

cdpbrwr says:

Great video! I like the concise instructions you provide. THANKS!

richpin06a says:

@ScubaStavee You are in luck yes it will apply

richpin06a says:

@markcanflow The radio is bad.You can check it if you like by removing the
radio fuse then remove the radio replace the radio fuse if it does not blow
the radio was the problem.

MrRandall778 says:

ok i have this car but instead of the small compartment i have an eq
adjuster….does that change the procedures

smuckers77 says:

I totally agree with previous comment, but i am still waiting for a video
of the removal and install of front struts on a 95 saturn SL1….lol

richpin06a says:

@valuptuous1016 If it is in that kind of shape i might consider a new one.

Bass2Intense says:

@richpin06a alright thanks

Mistuh Black says:

Hey Rich, I put a new radio in my 2002 Saturn and now I have no tail
lights. What the hell did I do wrong?

Blue Adkins says:

Thank you for the info. Looks super easy.

richpin06a says:

@valuptuous1016 Whats great about the Saturn s-series is the plastic panels
don’t rust so the car can be 11-12 years old and still look good.

ballershanelle says:

@princefx. If aftemarket-hookup issue. Still factory-buy adapter based on
car and its plug and play.

ScubaStavee says:

This may be a stupid question, but does this apply to a 97 Saturn SC1? I’m
going to be buying one soon and it is going to need a new sound deck.

David Boughton says:

Hey this was really helpful, thanks.

richpin06a says:

I do not think modern radios have a separate power for the light in the
radio.

valuptuous1016 says:

Yes I waiting for a new radio from ebay hope it works, do I need to
disconnect the – side of the car battery when I get ready to remove the old
radio?

Darian Morgan says:

thats not my name!!

Carrie Brietzke says:

can I get any radio for the install ? or are there certain ones that fit ?

PrinceFX says:

Question, for a Saturn SC2 94, the original radio works, but when I install
a new one, it doesnt work, is there a way to find out compatible radios? (I
tried using two different stereos)

RevDogg says:

Interesting side note: To those of you that are attempting to put an
aftermarket stereo in, and are hoping to buy a factory stereo wiring
harness adapter to avoid cutting and splicing wires, they used the same
plug and pin-outs on the GMC/Chevy `88 to `94 (think 94 was the last year)
pickups. (The ones with the actual stereo under the dash just above the gas
pedal.) So if for some reason you can’t find one listed for this Saturn,
grab one for an `88 Silverado and it’ll work.

Robin Stratwood says:

Thanks Richpin for the detailed explanation on how to remove the car radio
in a 1995 Saturn SL2. I have one that the radio works fine but I have a
cassette adpater that plays my iPod and it’s stuck in the cassette player.
The radio works after a few seconds but I need to remove the cassette
adapter. Can you tell mw how I could do that?

ItalianStallion1415 says:

This playlist is like gold for my Saturn. Thanks!

ballershanelle says:

Does it work when u rehook the old radio?

richpin06a says:

The junk yard would be good place to pick up some of those pins.

CanadianBackBacon says:

Thanks for your help. I will try this this weekend. BTW Happy New Year.

DJ H says:

RichPin… Dude… Great Videos for the average guy! I learn so much from
you vids. Do you have one for replacing Dashboard Componets like switches,
dials on the SL Series? I’ve worked on most parts of a car but Dashboards
kick my butt everytime. I either break them because of hidden
connections… or break something else. Tips & Tricks like you show are
PRICELESS!!!
