Video instructions were awesome…I installed four new 4 way 6-3/4″
speakers in my daughter S Series and could not have done it without you!
Thanks!

Jack Nance says:

I’ve done this several times now to replace the faulty door lock and have a
few recommendations. First get the switch at a junk yard ($5.00) this also
allows you to do a few practice attempts. Second be careful when you are
pulling the top and bottom rod out. They are attached to a channel between
the latch and the door lock. If they come out of the channel you your door
latch won’t work. The clips blue on top and white on bottom can be rotated
and then easily pull the rods up down to remove.

Jack Nance says:

Further I think that removing the outer door skin is easy (Watch his video)
and then you have less concern about the rods jumping out of the channel.
Good luck!

Jack Nance says:

Last comment the video instructions are great. I couldn’t have done it
without them!

generatrix999 says:

Right on Rich! Thank god I saw this. I would have destroyed the hooks
pulling on the panel.

MrCanucklhead says:

@MrCanucklhead Rich, I just replaced my front stock speakers and this video
was key. Thank you so much for this video and, thanks again for all the
Saturn related vid’s you produced. I have done so much work on my car and
she’s running great now !! Because of you, I fear no install………….
If you ever come to Canada for a trip, the beer is on me!! Providing I’m
there with yaa!!!!!!!

richpin06a says:

Remove inner door panel speaker then you can reach the mechanism.I use use
a light grease on the gear.

Danktolker says:

This was really helpful thanks Rich

lisamarieinaz says:

Big help! Thanks so much for posting! Very informative.

monkeyguys55 says:

do you know what size the front speaker is??

tggroo7 says:

Thank you very much!!! Although I’m not sure how you pulled off those two
rods so easily, I did get the job done (but lost the plastic piece off one
of the rods). I still have no idea how those were supposed to be pulled off
– I used a lot of force to pull them off and it sounded like something
broke every time. Again, THANK YOU! I can’t believe I actually somewhat
considered spending $45 at ABC Warehouse to have them install my new
speakers.

richpin06a says:

Yes this video will work for a 97 and you can use the same screws.

richpin06a says:

O that’s easy put the clip in the groove of the handle before you put the
the handle in place.

spikeg79 says:

Awesome video. Thanks, this helps bigtime for my trip to the Junkyard later
this weekend.

elcajon619 says:

@richpin06a i was able to get the door handle back on before seeing your
comment but i did essentially the same thing i took a little pice of yarn
to hold the rods in place while i monovered the handle to the right spot
and then pulled on the yarn to pull the rod into place. thanks for your
help!

richpin06a says:

@wildwind03 Yes it is.

richpin06a says:

Do you mean the outside panel as this is a video for the inside .

binglehiemer says:

A pair of needle nose plyers works great with getting the lock and handle
rod off I broke the clip for my handle, but that’s what junkyards are for.

richpin06a says:

There are metal rods that connect the handle to the latch right in the back
of the handle.

richpin06a says:

I do not have a video on the SC with the third door right now.I might be
able to do one but sorry to say i do not think it would be till spring
because of the weather being so cold.

richpin06a says:

@monkeyguys55 Gee sorry i do not but crutchfield shows a 6 1/2 fits in the
door.

aaronsface1 says:

my window is automatic and has stopped working (the clip is broken most
likely) i dont want to pay a repair shop $150 on a $4 part like i had to
last time. i cant remove the handel in worried about breaking something. i
cant figure out the wires disconnect. help.

richpin06a says:

If the panel looks just like this one i am not sure why it will not come
off.

richpin06a says:

Yes from inside.

ciscokid911 says:

GreaT gREAT vIDEO mAN Thanks….

grandmadude says:

Thank you! this video was very helpful i popped that badboy out and
switched my speakers! and you sound like Fred Stoller

richpin06a says:

This was one of my earliest videos.I use more close-ups on later videos.

richpin06a says:

@MatrixTime69 Did you open the locking piece before trying to remove the rod

richpin06a says:

On the Saturn S-series you have to remove the inner and outer door panels
to replace the window.

Riley Bush says:

@rcraft92 the speaker is 6.75 inches. 6.5s will fit too.

novarob1967 says:

How about one for the rear door panel?

monkeyguys55 says:

do you think its maybe possible to cut a hole where the speaker is and some
how clamp it back on…because when i did this it was a hassle!!

bicostp says:

A few tricks I learned from replacing the front speakers in my 98 SL: – You
can get the D.S. door panel off without taking the mirror stick apart. –
Use tape to hold the metal speaker clips in place until they’re screwed in.
-During reassembly, it’s easier to put the spring clip on halfway first
then put the crank on and finish with the clip tool. – Make your own GM
speaker adapters from the old speakers’ connectors and save yourself $20. –
Remember to keep your speakers in phase!

SuperBloms001 says:

how do you reattach the freakin door handle?!:(
