How to remove a rusted wheel hub bearing assembly the easy way.

These Craftsman sockets are great for this job. They hold up to the abuse and many times you have to have 12 pt. to get it done. http://www.amazon.com/gp/pro…

eduardo sampoia says:

Wouldn’t penetrating fluid help in this situation?

Ali Aliali says:

soak for a hour..with coca-cola it do the job

jarin wilson says:

Brian, I’ve had wheel hub bearing assemblies so seized into the steering
knuckle, a 40 ton press would not press it out… it began to distort the
entire steering knuckle. I was left with no other option but to cut them
out. I’ve never used this option that you clearly demonstrated(not because
it won’t work, but when I’ve invested a large sum of cash on tools, I just
won’t risk destroying an extension, unless its an ‘el cheapo’)

Bad Dog says:

I’ve tried about everything but this yet. Thanks for talking slow that’s
about my speed of course the audience is for motorheads lol.

Dana Swaney says:

Excellent Tip

Eddie the Grouch says:

Bad acting aside, this tip IS priceless and I wish I had known it before
doing my bearing a few years ago. To others: that rust/corrosion ring will
resist big hammers, big torches, pullers, and strong language. DO NOT USE
a regular jaw puller as all it will do is drive the axle into differential.

TheIrongutz says:

Just use a puller, safer!

Leslie Woods says:

Many years ago I had a car that belong to some one else and the right front
bearing was locked on so tight that cut it off, with out heating the sub
axel it moved and fitted new bearings and the was able to sell the car and
get a new one

toby hummel says:

thanks m8 my knuckes are tore up from the caveman approach having a hard
time typing gonna give this one whirle and hope I get to drive the spyder
to work thanks again

James Crowton says:

I would use Silikroil and let it soak for a hour.. The stuff Eats rust like
candy within a hour! Best stuff ever!! No hammer or press needed

Chris Gloege says:

How the hell did you get the planes to land on the ceiling like that?
Incredible!

Jose Rozo says:

thanks

MrZanadoo says:

Hi, I have enjoyed a few of your video’s, do you have one on replacing the
rear wheel bearing assembly on a 2004 subaru Impreza TS, i watched the one
on the outback, thanks in advance and keep the video camera rolling

kikyle says:

You rock man!! That was so easy u saved me so much BS. Im glad I found your
video.

Danny Smith says:

How would I do this on a 99 blaze? Just yesterday, I attemted replacing my
ball joints.. I spent 4 hrs trying to get the hub and splash off….
Nothing worked!!! Please help a.s.a.p

Chris Henson says:

shit that one isnt even rusty you should of seen the ones i just did we had
a 8 pound sledge and a cutting torch still took 7 hours

Quadrigius says:

Best tip ever. Without your advice I would have scrapped my 1995Volvo 850
even though I had bought a replacement wheel bearing. I have never worked
on any car before but thought I would have a go at it because I had no
money for garage repairs (it would have cost more than the car is worth).
When I couldn’t get the assembly out I thought, well that’s the end of that
then, scrap yard for you; then I came across your video and decided to give
it one more try and WOW! It popped right out the very first time.
Brilliant. HUGE thanks. Happy Christmas and have a grrrreat 2014.

James Crowton says:

Couldn’t you have heated it up and just pounded it off?

CosRacecar says:

Thanks, this really saved me. I soaked the hub in Really Good Sh*t (better
then PB Blaster, wish I could find a supplier for it) and then tried
beating on the bolts with a socket on them for over an hour and got
nowhere. I was about to take the torch to it when I found your video.

Mitch Newcomer says:

Great technique. Yes Priceless! otherwise known as American
engineuity! thanx. Mitch

Robert Winney says:

Nice, I’m right in the middle of this disassembly on my 2005 3500 Dodge.
Thanks

cstomaton01 says:

It’s very clever aswell as useful thank you.

Jay Orenstein says:

What if its so rusted it bends the bolts

loveskateboard4 says:

holy shit you are a genius my dad and I were beating, prying, and cussing
for hours trying to get it out then tried this and it took a 1/2 hour thank
you so much
two extensions were lost in the process but was well worth

BOB FOLTY says:

I think it would blow the seals in the power steering unit.
I have taken the off used a porter power against the spring and it was all
we could do to get it. when it poped it jumped out about a foot.

Nigel McKenzie says:

Awesome!

Willie Manley says:

Thanks for the awesome tip…I still can’t believe how well that
worked…and it was fast! I’ve been beating, heating, slide hammering and
nothing worked…great tip!

akorczvr6 says:

Fucking brilliant

Ian Sutherland says:

You saved my ass bro what a genius idea worked like a charm!!!

Darian Benford says:

Thanks. It works.

Jay Orenstein says:

I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 4×4 and my passenger front wheel hub is stuck
on, I tried heating it with acetaline torches and a 5 lb sledge and it
didn’t budge it is basically welded together because the bearing is so bad,
I don’t thing your trick will work, any other ideas or do I need to replace
what it connects to, and what is the part it connects to? Is it the.
Control arm? Please if you can email me +Jay Orenstein thank you very much

James Crowton says:

Brian, if my steering knuckle is not available to use as a press. Can I
just use mapp gas and heat it up and pound it out?

Tyler Phillips says:

Dude that was the coolest thing ever I literally spent hours pounding on
the hub with penetrating oil soaking and I did this trick and I literally
got it off in five minutes thanks so much it was awesome!!!!
