Finding motivation was more difficult than actually removing this headliner. I knew it would have some tricky spots, thus the reason I am sharing this video. I know someone out there will be glad to know these tips. BTW, this great 1997 American know-how vehicle still gets over 40 miles to the gallon. It was rated at 39, but it has never been below 40. Tell me again why did they close down this company? 175,000 miles and it doesn’t drop or burn oil. This car has been my truck which is why it is so dirty. I think about replacing it with a small 4cyl truck, but can’t see any “frugalness” in it.
thank u so much! u helped me replaced my headliner!!
*tangs*
A lot of miles? 176,000 . Geez, my sc2 was just getting warmed up at 176k. I put 400,000 on my sc2 before the rings finally went.
Thanks for this video. I usted it to remove that little seat belt adjuster clip with a small flathead screwdriver
Hey man, thank you, it is much appreciated. I was afraid to do anything without breaking something. My headliner in my 98SC2 is thrashed. I don’t know if I’m going to attempt it.
Do you know where to get handles at? I need them
To hold up my new headliner i got
Thanks so much
I just removed the full headliner, laid the seats backwards, took the headrest off and took the headliner through one of the back doors. Taking it in a 45 degree angle and very gently avoiding any piece to break. Reason, to fix it and to fix the sunroof; took.it apart as wellx need to replace two plastic pieces.
The knob on the side doora doesn't have to come off as the side panel have a rectangle flat piece that can unclip, release the coverand leaving the knob and the rectangle piece there, but the rest would be off.

I changed the headliner in my Saturn last year and watching this video just reminds me how tedious it was.. lol
Thank you for figuring this out the hard way for us all! I'll have a much easier time pulling the headliner now on my 98 SL1. Enjoyed the candid commentary as well. Thanks again!!!
