That’s really cool…..
Now I have a question regarding exhaust front pipe.
My car’s resonator was bend and I changed the resonator in a service
center for my Toyota Corolla 2000. Now they say that during installation of
resonator, the Exhaust front pipe bolt kit fell off due to rust. So
currently there is a sound coming from my car. Is there any problem if I
don’t fix it right away? Is there any chance that my car will catch fire?
Please advise!
The factory cat is worth keeping. I would have tacked it and then dropped
the pipe to weld it…yeah you need gaskets and hardware afterwards but a
lot more easy to weld on the bench.
Hello I have to replace the flex pipe, but the mechanic said I should
change the whole front pipe because that is corroded. Additionally I have a
friend who has the same car as mine, and he said I should change the
resonator because that will reduce the noise. I know the resonator is a
chamber similar to the catalytic converter, but I think that is not going
to do anything to my Flex pipe. Help me please.
My girlfriend was charged $190 to have a flex pipe replaced on her 1998
Honda Civic. I assume she got ripped off. That’s what she gets for not
having patience, and consulting with me first before having some repair
shop rip her off.
i noticed the front bracket that ataches to the original pipe is not being
used in the video. did you re-volt it up later? it doesn’t seem to line up
anymore also…
I just have a couple questions for anyone as well. I need a new exhaust
flex pipe on my 1999 cavalier. I was just wondering what the consequences
of not fixing it as soon as possible would be. I hear a rattling noise at
certain RPM’s. Is this the flex pipe doing this? Also, what would be a fair
price at any local mechanic to have the whole install done including parts
and labor? Thanks to anyone who can answer these for me.
You should have welded your 2” piec to the flex pipe first…would have
saved you 3 to 4 minutes. It is though though when you have minimal pipe to
work with since the flex has been done. To bad aftermarket isnt stainless
@richpin06 thats ok things happen. I was going to install a flex pipe like
in your video in my friends 2003 hyundai accent, but it turns out the part
guy told me the pipe on the car is 1 7/8 in and they don’t make flex pipe 1
7/8 in. So I’m gonna have to replace the whole pipe.
@fargobrad I use oxy/acetylene with great success. If it is stuck drill it
the tap size for the bolt if that does not work then you can try the
oversize.
They make a flex head gun which would make it much easier to weld the top
of the pipe.I would love to have one Santa Clause are you listening.
Important Update: Jan 1 2013 there will be a new richpin channel for all
future videos.Richpin06a channel will be solely for all the Saturn lovers
out there.Should be a lot of fun so stay tuned.
$190 is a deal, Hyundai is charging $619.00 for a flex pipe replacement.

@rickii2010 Yes it is a mig Clarke 130EN
My friend, I am puzzled since welding alumnium and steel requires argon gas
and highest settings of the thermostat on welder
@MrRaiders6769 I have never used it so do not know.

I don’t own a recip could you use a grinder?

How much would it cost to get this done at a shop?

Thanks great vid. Why did the job save $170 – was the original setup a
solid pipe of some sort?
I can’t see how you could have possibly welded that pipe 360 degrees
around. There just isn’t any clearance.
i need you help richpin06a i need new engine to honda accord 1987 in
california what place you recomend to buy or important points need know
thanks
Sorry i do not know.

you need sharper blades it takes me 1 min tops on a thick truck exhaust
How much was the price for that pipe? My mechanic wants to replace the flex
pipe for $140 included labor. Is that affordable?
No because a transverse mounted engine has to move back and forth.
holy shit great welding LOL

@Dicofole The engine flexs back and forth so that is why you have to use a
flex pipe.
