Like the video. The music leaves a lot to be desired. I grew up in the country. That stuff sounds like a wild animal dieing.

I have a 99sl2 with 170k. It burns so much oil im adding to many additives. I’ve seen your video’s about drilling into the piston but I dont have the ability to do that any ideas?

Teri Haynes says:

Thanks for posting.

mainejunker says:

Yes, when I uploaded this video a long time ago it had some other music. After I learned about copyright stuff I let youtube do an audioswap so I wouldn’t get in trouble. 🙁

Omar M says:

Nice song.

Thanks. I have a 96SL2 with 300k miles. Runs great but that dam pedal! I would drive this car anywhere! Its my DD, almost 200 miles a day

yerboogieman says:

Same here, I guess, I’m lucky because both of my Saturns don’t burn or even leak oil.

originaldeadclown says:

well then i must have one of the rare ones i never have to add oil between changes

Bmilesonline says:

Ive had 3 Saturns and I do think they are great cars. But even the very first one I bought new off the factory floor and the tail pipe was black in a weeks time with like 20 miles on the car and I take IMMACULATE care of a car so no; They burn oil. It’s rare to find one that doesn’t but they are out there.

osvst says:

These motors always develop carbon on the throttle plate it’s not so much the egr valve it’s just the way the motor is set up. Best stuff is go to the GM dealer and get what is called cleens it’s on hell of a carbon cleaner I use it on my SC1 every oil change and never really have a problem and it runs like new. U can try sea foam too but that shit is makes quite a bit of smoke

ChubbyLoveDumpster says:

Nononoooo im saying that the egr is designed to let exhaust gas back into the engine. And the egr passage should be on the plenum near the throttlebody. The exhaust it lets through causes build up all around your intake… That build up is a sign that your egr is workin.. I was trying to say that that buildup is caused by your egr.. Not burning oil

mainejunker says:

Nope, EGR is clean and functional. Even replaced it at one point because I had the same thought.

ChubbyLoveDumpster says:

Dude… Its the egr valve that causes the gum build up. Not burning oil.

originaldeadclown says:

why does everyone say this? ive got a 93 sw2 with 151,xxx miles on it and it doesnt burn oil. seems to me people need to take better care of their s-series saturns. not to say you dont but the its a saturn it burns oil thing i think thats a load of horse shit

newnaz says:

all saturns, especially the s series ones, burn oil. normally about a quart every 1500 miles or even a little bit more. that is why this is a pretty common problem for the throttle body to get gummed up like this.

William Cameron says:

Love the song!

CHVY4LNCH says:

If all that gunk was stuck on the Throttle body Id imagine whats inside the intake mani!!!! Take that suma gun off too and clean it!!

DeniskaFromRussia says:

you should’ve started the engine to show that the matter is really fixed….)))

Armoredlamb says:

Thanks, i’ll have to do this

J.P. Yantis says:

Be careful with the idle air control sensor when doing this, it can short out. It would be best to remove it.

Bought a 1997 SC1 with 30,000 miles in 2003 for $3k. The pedal stuck slightly when I got it. Now with 135,000 miles, the pedal was sticking something fierce and I was losing 4-5 mpgs in the city as a result. Regardless the cause, my TB looked identical on the inside to this and now the gas pedal is smoother than when I bought it. The car isn’t worth putting serious work into, but this 30 mins fix was simple and extremely effective. Be sure to clean edges of valve too. Great post, THANKS!

noxious89123 says:

It’s not because of the filter, it’s because of the breather tube that comes off the valve cover and hooks upto the air intake just before the TB, so you get lots of shit on the TB.

3rdSuspension says:

Obviously your vehicle is in some serious need for a tune up – a throttle body should NEVER look that freaking dirty. Your engine is running rich. But what do I know right? …

dannyskatekid says:

Thanks, i didnt do it exactly like you did but the pedal on my 02 mustang is butter smooth!

steve barney says:

Well, it worked, thanks bud.

CCAAASSSCCAAAA says:

That’s the dirtiest TB I’ve ever seen on a NON-diesel vehicle! O_o

FelchBelcher says:

Sounds like your Saturn is powered by Briggs and Stratton.
