@zotynia90 because I was taking the entire head off I just unscrewed the
sprocket bolts and took the sprockets and chain off at the same time. If
you want to take just the chain off I think you could release the tensioner
to give the chain slack. But if you are removing the head just unbolt
everything and take it off. I followed the factory service manual which is
pretty specific about how to take it apart. Good luck

I have a question about timing chain? How did you get it off I read the
manual and I’m taking the head in the get repaired so how do I but the
chain back on? Is there some type of markings that line up or something?

Bob Fagioli says:

@omarG19100 – Yes, you do need to drain motor oil and coolant first. Yes,
you will need to then remove timing chain cover, sprockets and chain. Then
the head bolts and remove the head. A new head gasket is a pretty big job.

Omar Chisolm says:

@bfagioli do u have to drain all the fluids like oil, coolant before doin
this job? ,and do the chain have to come off in order to slide a new head
gasket in?
