Cutting the floor on the Vue & creating a Custom Fuel pump hatch worked. The hatch gave me perfect access to the fuel pressure sensor & swapping it cleared the p0446 code! FINALLY! My junkyard patch worked PERFECT! April 30th I passed emissions! Whew! Bonus, I have now perfected completing a drive cycle.

Well as you guys have seen me struggle to clear the p0446 code. I tried replacing both the EVAP purge and vent solenoid. Neither of which fixed the code. So now it’s time to pull out the big guns and go after the Fuel tank pressure sensor. From the research I’ve done of late, p0446 always points to the fuel tank pressure sensor. In each & every technician video, this was the answer. I figured it would be the case for me as well, but since the other sensors were any easy fix… it did not hurt to try. Plus I learned something & got to share the how to with you.
For a p0446 code, the best thing for you to do is go to a mechanic. They have the advanced diagnostic tools to be able to take freeze frame data and live data. Also they can turn sensors on and off to compare values which I flat can’t do. In the end that’s what is needed to properly diagnose something like this.
I had been attempting to contact my mechanic during all this to no avail. I did not know till just recently that he had been out of the country for the past 30 days with a family emergency. The Vue was literally the backup car while the civic is at the mechanics with its failed transmission, so I had no choice but to do this myself because I had to go to work and could not give up the Vue. I must have a way to work and my birthday is in May, so as of this video being filmed I had about 5 days to pass emissions.
But do to my back injury and not having any assistance there was no way I was going to be able to pull the gas tank without some type of lift so I was forced to do this the hack-way. After doing the research at the junkyard, that I posted in another video, I have now taken on the challenge of properly cutting my floor pan and creating a proper-ish fuel pump cover. It allowed me access to the fuel tank pressure sensor without having to drop the fuel tank.
I had hoped this modification would make for easier future repairs, if the fuel pump ever needed to be replaced, however, this is not the case with the tank design. This particular unit uses 2 Fuel sending units in a “side saddle” style tank. The lines are not a quick release style at said fuel pump as I had hoped. They are plastic & heat shrunk onto the pump lines, so simply accessing the fuel pump at the new hatch I created is not really viable.
I just wanted to share this information with you guys as a disclaimer as this is not going to be the end all be all to replace a fuel pump.

Anyone else go the route of cutting the floor pan? How did you seal your floor after? Any issues?
