This ECM Injector Circuit failure can TOTAL many NG Saab 9-3 2.0T from 2003-2011

In today’s episode, I review how to remove the ECM for a 2.0l engine on a saab 9-3 convertible. This application is good for all model years from 2003-2011 that have the 2.0T engine in their car. A bad ecm can cause the car to loose power and have a check engine light go off. Many shops can charge a lot of money to repair this, which cause many saab owners to give up on their 9-3’s! I am hear to stress that this is an easy $200 and 20 minutes of work. The codes that are pertaining to this issue are P0201 P0202 P0203 & P0204 all listed as an injector circuit on the scanner. I hope you find this helpful! Please like, share, and subscribe!

I have a 2003 5 speed manual the ecm is going bad. I have a 2007 automatic rusted out part car. Can the 2007 automatic be reprogrammed for the 2003 manual

Jacob Martinez says:

I know it's been a long time since you posted this video but do you still have the old ECU I may be interested in it

guitarlover302 says:

Replaced my screws on cover and air filter with allen screws – available on Amazon

guitarlover302 says:

Can get a spacer kit that lifts ECU and allows air flow

Ray Johnson says:

The exhaust manifold is on back of engine next to firewall, hows it heating pcm

Jean-Pierre LALMANT says:

Hi Kyle, I live in France and saw your video about this ecm problem. I have 2 Saab 9-3, a convertible 2.0 T (185hp) from 1998 without any problem and a 2.0 T (210hp) from end 2006 with power failure problems. I am turning around since a few monthes to fix this problem without succes. I will now follow your advice and send the calculator to Germany to be repaired. I will let you know in a couple of weeks. Thanks again for your performance ! Jean-Pierre – France

Javier Hernández says:

Hello, do you live in the United States? If so, I would like to know what is the company where you sent the computer to fix

Roy Huang says:

I think there is Taiwan Saab shop made a kit to relocate the ecm behind the Fan.

Pinksnowbirdie says:

have you given an update to how your experience was with the rebuild of the PCM?

Stratplayr says:

Hey Kyle – got any new videos coming of this 9.3 convertible? Looking foward to seeing what else you do with it. I've got an '05 9.3 Arc convertible, love your channel and all of your tips and information for all things Saab.

pabllok says:

I thought you will show how to repair it, instead of that you just said, that broken part needs to be replaced.

IceStorm Gaming says:

i have P0687 consistently. what should i do for that? i have replaced the battery and main relay already.

Donald Grant says:

Kyle everyone should make money by being truthful. Enjoy your vids

Jessica slagle says:

I have an 06 9-3 2.0T. The other night I was taking a sharp corner and it died out on me. I waited forever and finally someone came and gave me a jump. He followed me with repeatedly having to jump the car until it finally wouldn’t start again so I have it home now and it’s cranking but no start. Any suggestions. The car has 243,000 plus on it and it was leaking out throwing codes about coils constantly but I don’t care. I love my car. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

ECU Spacer Kit

Mike C says:

I also have the kit installed for heat protection.. comes with a bakelight plate and rubber bush to seperate.. I’m getting 30 degrees cooler!!
Mine came from Australia for all the down under viewers

Cyclone Cyd says:

Very disappointing. The title held out so much promise that we were going to learn something new about the ECM failure. We ended up learning nothing.
BTW, those screws are T30 not T27, hence why you stripped them.
If Module Experts succeed where many have failed, please question them to death on how they did it. And ask them why they are keeping their light under a bushel. They could make a 'mint' repairing these from all over the world.

Chris A says:

Kyle Pancis – What company did you send it to to get rebuilt?

Gary Powell says:

What an engineering catastrophe waiting to happen, what were they thinking, or were they when the put it so close to the engine block knowing it would overheat and kill it eventually? Could it be an ECU sales gimmick, to make you have to buy one every so often?

Broeheem says:

Save the headache before it happens. Get a spacer kit for the ECU. Watch this video….. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_LPL_bw7DA

shakal pb says:

Hey Kyle, have you ever tried to open the ECU and attempt a repair? Louis Rossmann does similar repairs on Laptops

Iman Wan says:

Just replaced my ECU couple months ago. I cheap out on the Tech 2, and just buy the cable to reprogram from ECU program. End up the eBay ECU did not work, then replacement ECU came in. Then CIM failed. I end up got the MDI. Yes, I did not spend $1K, but the car has sit in my driveway more than 2 months.

FTBY59 Mike D says:

Kyle, for the love of God, please clean those leaves out of the cowl !!

MassiveTrackHunter says:

A lovely gift from GM. Older gens of Saabs almost never had ECU issue. These new ones have much daintier circuitry according to the shops that told me that no one can repair, and they just replace them. If your serial is still the same when the "repaired" one returns, that would be cool! If it really is repaired, let us know who, since all the places I called except the one in FL, admitted they could not repair them. The one in FL had their own issues according to all the negative reviews. Best of luck! Hope it goes well.

Mark Davis says:

"Shops charge a lot of money, they'll scare you into totaling out your car and make a lot of money on you, but that's okay…!" No Kyle, it is not okay to lie and overcharge to "make a lot of money on you!"

McDonald G says:

When you say reprogram is that the SPS reprograming? I had a code in which i checked with ORIO and they confirmed that the sps reprograming. "Update " has to be perform.
Youtube be like that background sounds is music .. When its just nature at it finest…you can see the 9-5 chillin in its habitat. Nice video…

Clifford Kuhn says:

I sent mine out for repair about a month ago to a different company. They were unable to repair because it was it was completely unrepairable. They sent me a replacement ECU and it will have to be reprogrammed using a Tech 2 with a Saab card my mechanic ordered from eBay.

VinNumber says:

There is a kit to prevent the ECM from overheating. You can easily search it up!
This will add rubber spacers between the engine and ECM and a heat shield! 😀
