I took out the onstar button and had replaced with a blank – as useless as it was the analog version. GM did offer an upgrade to digital at I think it was $800 – but hey I do not know of a Saab that got one ;). So yes – take out that old onstar. No harm done there. Just wiggle it out, unplug it, push the old onstar wires back in….and get the button blank with the input from SaabAux guys…..presto!
I do not think so – you would have to check the SaabAUX site – or ask them 😉 This was just my post showing install. There are details on their site about the different products they offer.
Hi Robert, I see you replaced the Aux input where you had a blank plug. The problem is where your blank plug is, I have an Onstar button. Does this change the installation process to a large extent? I don’t use the Onstar anymore, its been turned off for years.
It is also listed at the very opening and the end of the video – on their site there is a clickable item that says ‘buy now for like 1209 SEK’ which is the price in Swedish Kroner.
It will work in a Viggen – I switched one of mine to my new to me 2001 viggen this past weekend.
For wiring in a new hot wire - that is your own discretion, but I am sure you can connect to a hot lead on the back of the fuse box and run that over.
It works pretty good but I think it should be mentioned that it only works while car is running because power to there is no power to the cig lighter when switched to off. Many people may think they can switch to off and listen to the aux input like they can their cd player and this is not the case.
Hey – I do not have the CD player in the trunk – it hooks into that setup – BUT based on the wiring you should be able to use either – AUX or the CD changer. I would say probably not both at same time 😉 The in dash CD player still works. Also as the harness fits as an in between for the CD changer – the CD changer ends up still plugged in – and should also be available – Make sense?
Hi! Great tutorial! just a quick (and probably stupid) question. Does this eliminate the use of playing CD-records? Since you play using the “CD” and not an “AUX”-option.
I connect my iPhone 4s using just the 3.5mm audio jack – Not familiar with the Arc, but if it has an audio out – for headphones, then I would suspect you can.
I have one question, maybe you can answer me: will I be able to connect an iPhone 5 or a Sony Ericsson Experia Arc? I’m not sure about the cable from the device to the new button.

Yes – it is more a matter of install is just show with a car with ACC – the unit itself will work fine.

Sorry not familiar with that product, just the one from SaabAux. There are not any extra wires etc in the kit I got.
