Saab 9-5 oil consumption fix – PCV issues

Yeah, the video pretty much speaks for itself. The car had issues with consuming a lot of oil. Approx 1 liter pr 100km. And that’s pretty bad.
Now after a couple of days using the car I can confirm that the car no longer uses oil. But, definitely needs a set of new plugs.

I am confused. What was the issue apart from crankcase pipe being blocked solid? The PCV valve being broken?

I have a 2010 9-5 Aero Turbo Edition wagon with 151,000 miles. The TD04 was replaced at 72,000 miles, and then rebuilt again at 98,000 miles.

The car still smokes and uses around 1 litres of oil every 1000 miles. This has been the same for 5 years.

I cannot think the turbo is faulty again? There is no play in the shaft and no oil in the downpipe.

I will replace the one way PCV pipe with the upgraded metal check valve and I guess I will feel all breather hoses to see if they have gone and filled up like yours.

Question for you – have you ever known the 06-10 cars to sludge up? For peace of mind I'm changing the PCV system on mine – the turbo blew at 200km and the car was never really quite the same after I put in a replacement. I was never quite sure why the turbo went other than wear and tear – the shaft was totally gone in terms of play. Now the idle seems high on start, I changed the pressure sensor and a few other bits. The car has been off the road for the last 16 months due to Covid and I had a mishap just before this when I hit a 'puddle' at about 150km/h which was more like a lake. Possibly bent a rim / alignment out / balancing out – need to find out. Rear brakes gone too. From 2014-2019, before the turbo went, the car was just beautiful – one of the 'best driving 9-5s' according to the last Saab dealer here in Ireland.. so I've decided to get it going again back to its former glory. Titan Grey, auto, 2.0t BioPower.. what's not to like?! But yeah, do these later cars ever sludge up?

A little editing would be nice to cut out all the "walking around the workshop to find a part" or "watch me struggle cut open o hose" bits. Otherwise, thank you for sharing this!
