There is a small motor behind that vent opening that draws air in over the
sensor. When it gets old it rattles (don’t we all!), lever out the vent and
unplug the motor (30 second job) then enjoy the silence! Did mine 6 months
ago with no ill effects.
I removed the ashtray and ashtray socket, I removed the cabin senosr
through the ashtray hole, and air blasted it, holding the fan stuck to
prevent it from over revving. I then greased the fan axis with silicon
spray. Soundless fan operation as a result. Also clean the little plastic
grille in front of the sensor.
That module next to the heated seat button is the cabin temperature sensor.
The thermometer sits inside a sort of compression fan pulling air through
the front and out the sides. You can easily remove the module by taking out
the above climate controls. I had to take mine apart, clean and oil it. It
is not hard to do. Hope that helps.
