Coolant flush on an 2006 2.0t Saab 9-3. This should be the almost same for 2004-2011 variants of the 2.0t 9-3. For flushing I recommend picking multiple gallons of distilled water from the grocery store (usually about a $1 or less each), and you will need a secure container to hold the used coolant for recycling. Check your city/state for local recycling options. When selecting a coolant, make sure it is Dex Cool (orange) compatible.

Snap on no longer has that socket. Can't find anything similar under the name. Anyone know what else the type of socket might be called?
I'm about to be a DIY saaber. Thanks for the tutorial.
Im gona used your video as a reference and a guide in this process im about to do. Two weeks ago on my way to see my mother i had some issues on my way there . the throotle hose got loose i had no tools with me i use a Dime to tight it saw my coolant boilin i was whattt? I have never seen that i mean i only knew the basics brakes oil change you know.. Changuin the #6 so far its been my biggest work. Another symptom i had which happen once i got home a rattle by the driver side of old apartment pipes.. Coming down a hill temperature gauge drop and once level the gauge went up no check engine no overheatin
Me: Gloves for coolant, pffft yeah ok
Also Me 2 hours later while eating food: Something tastes a little off, almost like dex-cool
I finally realized that i just didnt turn the petcock open enough and got everything to flush. Got that 3rd bolt out pretty easy and made a video on it in action with good camera angles. Check it out: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7njKusdVn-c&feature=youtu.be
I was able to hand loosen the draincock to turn it but nothing comes out. Reservoir is filled and im not noticing any leaks. Could it be a faulty thermostat thats stuck closed? If it is, to replace it does that mean that I will have a huge mess when i take out the thermostat because i cant drain the fluid?
And if I replace the thermostat without draining, will I have to bleed the system or not? I have ss 2004 b207e, is there a vent at all? Thanks
Hi can you replace thermostat without empty the coolant Saab 9.3
2005
Thank you.
My car leaks a fair amount of coolant, so I am constantly topping off the reservoir. Would you still recommend flushing it when I do the thermostat?
Just watch that draincock… they have tendency to break…Nice work!
Do you have to flush the whole system or can I just replace the thermostat
omg you're amazing. thank you!!!!
